Indoor swimming

Any recs for a gym or place that has indoor swimming and has actual open swim times? I’ve looked into a YMCA, but they only have open/family swim for like two hours on a Sunday. I’m not sure if I could just come with my baby whenever I want. TIA

I don’t think that’s true about the Y. I mean they want you to make a reservation but I just looked at the schedule and it’s pretty much all day tomorrow, for example. They don’t seem to have a lot of family swim during the week but I have been there plenty of times when families are in the water

If you don’t mind the drive or are convenient to Short Pump, ACAC has a warm water pool with family hours of 3-6 hours/day depending on the day of the week. See link below. There’s also the Midlothian location that has a dedicated family pool that you can go to anytime during hours as well as a warm water pool with limited adult only hours you can go anytime outside those hours too. https://acac.com/midlothian/hours/

The Shady Grove Y actually has family swim almost all day, every day. Their website is shit though.

Our ymca has open family swim most of the day all week. I’ve gone mornings, afternoon and evening with my daughter mom through sun. We go to the Tuckahoe YMCA. That said, the pool may not be particularly exciting for kids. There is no slides or kid features. But if they just want to swim around, it’s fine.

In honestly American Family has the best indoor facilities in town and they’re open 24hrs. My favorite one is in Short Pump. Nothing better than floating around in a giant pool at 3 in the morning.

Weinstein JCC for family swim.

Swim RVA or NOVA (now in the old Regency Square Mall) for laps.

Cary St. Gym is too shallow, too warm, and has too many randos just walking through lanes.

Different branches of the Y have different pool hours. I go to a few different locations and you just have to make a reservation for your time slot. Lots of times all day all week.
