I was just rewatching The Purge (for Halloween reasons), and I can’t help but feel that it’s a genius level movie, both from the perspectives of social commentary as well as film construction. It’s an imaginative yet plausible concept and is very tight, e.g., it manages to organically weave in a lot of the world building while keep the pace up pretty much the whole time. I was kind of surprised after to see how critically panned it was.
