Not always true. I dislike bail reform and I’m pro gun control.

And like I said, some of the people who lobbied for bail reform were directly involved in the Second Amendment case that overturned NY’s gun restrictions. I’m talking about the Bronx Defenders and other defenders’ offices.

Why waste all these words? Just say you want quotas.

Edit: I re-read your comment and thought about it and I tend to agree with your main point that the only thing that could substantially narrow disparate outcomes for black Americans versus other Americans is something like a second Reconstruction. I also agree it’s unlikely to happen.

I don’t want to check your post history. But I still think you’d be bummed. I think you’re enjoying this thread. Mind you, I can’t prove it.

Edit: I did scroll back through your comments. Seems like about half your comments are calling another commenter an idiot or a moron or impugning their motives in some way. So this thread seems pretty on brand for you. This all reinforces my view that you really do enjoy calling people names on Reddit.

I’d have to check the data—surely there were a lot more people in Rikers charged with non-violent crimes, but I’m not sure how many. It’s knowable info from the DOC reports, though.

When you have a city of 8.5 million people, and bail reform prevents any jail time for non-violent offenders (regardless of how many repeat offenses), the 5,000 who are left in the system are very hard cases.

But yet all we hear from the progressive left is “mass incarceration.”
