The Christmas street/village thing is quite common in Italy too

Do you not like understanding your progress in a trip? Counting down miles until your next state line seems like a pretty normal thing to do, doesn't it? Is it just me?

So busy, holy cow. If they're going through the effort of adding all those 'milepoint' signs, why not just change the numbers?

A GPS still doesn't tell you how many miles you've been in a state nor how many miles until the next exit.

With the one exception being if you add an exit within the same mile as another, then you need to add letters.
But that's also what they did before, like exits 6 and 6a (now 18 and 19).

Reply to Does a socialist/communist/anticapitalist stand a chance at winning public office and then subsequent governing without major obstruction in any municipal or state level elected position? by PinkSwallowLove
A bunch of these things are already happening.
> construction of social housing
McKee is doing that now: "...announce a historic investment of more than $80 million to create and preserve more than 875 homes across the state. Of these, over 800 will be affordable units."
> (including for the middle class)
That's happening too: "Middle Income Loan Program: a total of $20 million to finance innovative proposals that seek to develop housing affordable to households with incomes between 80% – 120% AMI. The program addresses the affordable housing needs of households who are increasingly caught in the gap between rising housing costs and ineligibility for other traditional state and federally financed affordable housing."
> extensively equipping workers with the tools and training to establish self directed employee run collectives statewide
Like state-run "how to make a union" workshops? Isn't that kind of like asking Amazon corporate to run union workshops to their floor/field workers? We wouldn't want that; unions need to be independent from management.
> creating a statewide organization of mental health therapy collectives to address the mental health and drug addiction crises
We have that. The state certifies mental health professionals, and pays for people to go to them.
>fostering and building mutual aid networks
If it's organized by the government, then isn't it by definition not mutual aid?
> reworking the public transportation system routes and frequency and fully subsidizing it so that it is free to riders
That's being trialed, all Newport busses were free all summer. There's also the permanent free and reduced fare program that covers seniors, veterans, low-income individuals, people with disabilities, and people who assist the disabled.
>establishing worker representation/councils on municipal/state committees
The state house is currently filled with worker-representatives. That's the whole idea. I am pretty sure our district reps aren't using their $16k stipend as their sole source of income.
> seaweed farming, urban agriculture, vertical agriculture
> pedestrianizing more cities and making them more walkable
Isn't Providence doing pretty good, and constantly improving?
Overall, it kinda seems like you're ignorant of the things we're actually doing as a state and are feeling bad that we're not doing the things we're already doing. Simply educating yourself might make you feel more hopeful about our future? But I'm probably reading too far into your psyche now.
Either way, think of the branding. "I want to expand the RIPTA reduced fare program" is better than "I want communist transportation". The former is more descriptive and less offputting, while the latter is just unnecessarily vague and foreboding. So if your question is if is self-branded communist will be elected, then the answer is no. If you're actually asking if someone progressive who wants to expand and build upon the things we're already doing could get elected, then obviously yes. Even McKee is heeding the calls of the people to get more progressive.

They are tempting, but not really that great. There's no need for your layers to zip together, it's just more hassle to give yourself less flexibility. Just put on an insulating layer when you need it, then add a shell over it when you need it.
That said, the convertible ones can be a good deal if you look at it as buying two separate jackets if you need both anyway.
But to answer your question, I have a Columbia puffy jacket that works for 90% of everything, then I'll just adjust my under layers as necessary. This time of year it's just like a tee shirt under the jacket. In a few months, it will be more like a sweater or fleece under the jacket. It's also light and very packable which is nice.
Brand doesn't really matter, but for reference mine is like this (that I got at the Columbia outlet for like $30): https://www.columbia.com/p/mens-powder-lite-insulated-jacket-1698001.html

They're just going to throw down a grass and wildflower seed mix, with a few trees here and there. Just like every other stretch of highway. There is nothing better nor cheaper. Grass retains the soil, trees retain the slope.
> The walls will be replaced with slopes planted with grass and wildflowers to make it more environmentally friendly and to retain the soil. Some trees will be replaced.
What do you suggest as a better or cheaper alternative?

The old paver retaining walls certainly seem like a poor choice a couple decade ago, but the current grassed slope seems like the right move now. What would you want instead, just wait for the pavers to entirely fail?

Wait lol, you're putting your faith in a massive conspiracy theory based on a video or something I forget? How is that stronger evidence than the bipartisan consensus of thousands of election and legal experts?
> Also there’s videos where there just so happen to be votes(mail in ballots) that just so happen to show up late at night.
That's...how it works, codified in state law. In-person votes are tabulated, then the mail-in votes are reported after polls close.

Don't you see the irony there? You think they're all evil and want us to give up, so in response you're.....giving up?
