There's a lot more than just the stuff that falls under the PPD. Like building code enforcement, everything involving the streets department, parks and rec are pretty disfunction as well.

He was involved in this case on Mumia's behalf prior to being the DA and talked about it a lot prior to becoming the DA .

Agree, its also one of the many reasons I support Fetterman and have voted for him every chance I've had, I think he's a true leader in that he thinks about what's right vs thinking about how will this impact my career.
Unfortunately because money, soundbites, and overly smooth brain team politics largely dictate how people vote; I don't think there would be any messaging that Fetterman or Shapiro could do to negate the public blow back from the court ruling for a new trial. Especially if Krasner being the narcissistic zealot he is goes on TV and praises his office loosing the appeal, which he will absolutely do.

I recommend the City Mapper or Tranist app over Google navigation. My guess would be train to Suburban transfer to the EL, or bus 61 to the 15.

I think if he gets a retrial and Krasner celebrates it, Republicans will win the governor and senate races as this will be viewed by the general public as Krasner and the Democrats going soft on crime.

This a fair and honest view of the situation. I also object to the death penalty.
I think he's guilty as hell, but if there is really valid evidence that the trial was not fairly conducted then he should be retried and re-sentenced to life without parole.

Not only do they feel the need to reinvent the wheel, they end up blowing more money than it would have cost to just by an off the shelf system, and what they come up with is a worse alternative that cost way to much and took way to long to implement.

Finally some good news about our dysfunctional city. I'm sure all those people on the block saying the bikes were legally owned when the cops impounded them will get that paper work to prove it any minute now.
Not shocking to hear that drug dealers who are responsible for huge amount of the gun violence in this city, where also running dog fighting rings, and ATV gangs.
Wonder if the PPD decided to get off their ass and go do their damn job in response to the news from the city auditor finding they suck at their jobs? Wouldn't be shocked if this is all they do for the next several months to crack down on the out of control crime; and they hold it up as the one example of them working when they get called out for sucking ass.

I find it pretty ironic to see ads against distracted driving on highway billboards, the sole point of which is to distract the driver with advertising.
Billboards should be banned, they promote distracted driving and visually clutter the state with actual trash.

I think the bigger issue is the inability to focus on an issue, correctly identify its components, and stay on message about it.
I've seen some pretty outlandish looking people show up to anti-abortion rallies, and going in the way back machine, tea party rallies. They looked (and were) dumb as hell, but they were absolutely focused on one issue, with focused messaging and overly simplistic sloganeering to go with it.
You just rarely see that level of focused and consistent messaging on the left.

Same, though I largely stopped during the end of the Bush administration, start of the Obama administration when I became disillusioned with the Occupy movement.
Trying to organize on the left is like trying to herd cats. It's next to impossible, and if you get them into one place they'll just start attacking each other.

As per usual with these types of protesters, the participants are unable to focus on the correct parties involved, or stay even focused on the issue they're protesting.
Which is why politically they hold no power. They can't correctly identify the problem, nor stay focused on a particular issue, and will drift along with whatever the issue of the day is.

As much of a shit bag as this guy is, he's not unique. This bullshit is rife throughout the city government. The problem is firing shitty cops is way harder than other shitty city workers defrauding the government.
Reform for better accountability of government workers regardless of profession needs to happen.

This is bit disingenuous as rural officials did not seek to take over the Philly school district. The school district declared bankruptcy, the city refused to bail it out, and the state was required to step in. As with any state bailout for a municipality the state gets to appoint oversight of the financial distressed government, which is what it did with the school district.
Are you going to complain about rual officials bailing out the city with PICA next?

The incestuous relationship pharmaceuticals have with the FDA is a massive problem that directly lead to the opioid crisis and the lack of any accountability laws is how people like the Sacklers get away with what otherwise is blantent false advertising, drug dealing, and murder.

That's the thing, Philly is "cheap" for a major costal city, but it's overall not that cheap compared to the Midwest and South.
The high tax burden, lack of skilled jobs, and increasing cost of rent due to blocking housing construction do add up. I think our rank is totally justified in this list.
