Yeah this process really sucks. My company sent it to the Rhode Island dmv and then it shut down. I had to take a loan to pay that loan to force the company to get a new title from the original state since it was lost

Agreed. Rode the metro back home from Dulles this past Sunday (about an hour and forty), which was only half an hour more than driving or Uber for significantly less. Twas worth not having to deal with cherry blossom traffic!

I kinda get it. If you live in DC there's not really much reason for you to go out there. It's a perspective thing. Especially if you don't have a car, somehow getting out to some place in the mountains can kinda suck.

Meh, the Packers are owned by 537,460 individual shareholders.

A 1BR costs about $2200-2500. A 2BR 2900-3500
If you have a larger 4BR house, possibly $1200 per month .
Or you could look for a studio $1800-1950 average .
Zipcode 20007/20008 is where you will be working. Take a look in McLean Gardens or near Glover Park

It is ABSOLUTELY like telling my pal we're going to cross Hadrian's Wall and go to unconquered Caledonia when I invite him up to have a drink at my place and catch a Loudoun United game or some such thing....

Way over budget and years behind schedule, but big success?

He’s gonna buy 0.03% of the team so he can say he owns a NFL team.

I know you didn’t ask for breakfast recs, but I’d chime in that Baked Joint, Emissary, or Tryst are casual breakfast spots that are comfortable for solo diners! Same with Call Your Mother bagels in West End (nice open seating in hotel lounge area).

The long underground walk way to the metro? Maybe it just feels like forever to me.

Yes, it’s Wiehle Reston. The trail is super close. If you’re unfamiliar, use CityMapper app from there and ask it for directions via bicycle to your destination, and it always puts me on the W&OD. Iirc, I take my bike up via elevator, walk over the overpass then through the square with Founding Farmers, to Wiehle Ave on the other side of that square. Go left on Wiehle, past all the construction, and the trail is about a block or two away.
I just learned that the construction is to make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to access the trail! https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/transportation/projects/wiehle-wod-trail

I did it from Arlington and it was great. Saved so much money in parking and/fares for a week long trip, and it was super easy.

It’s like 6-7 minutes from baggage claim to the platform.

Lmfao. I had a great bartender at Solly’s describe my area as “somewhere in southern VA” but we are really only 70 miles out and still in the northern part of the state. It’s kinda fun living in scary barbarian lands…

Reply to Question for a jop opportunity as a foreigner by dogefki
25 yr foreigner here - been living in DC for 7 years now
- Cost of living is expensive but doable, if you're making 4.6k Dollars you are going to be fine just don't keep buying everyone shots and ordering food every day; having a roommate is strongly advisable at that budget.
- I live near Cathedral Heights and Georgetown, if you live in that area you will be fine, and public transport to work will be easy, there are buses going up and down Wisconsin avenue every 30 min.
- Groceries: I eat healthy yet mostly the same thing every day w a good amount of meat; I spend like 50-100 weekly on groceries
- DC has a bunch of 20-year-olds running around, and pretty active nightlife; not like NYC though.
- DC is a fun city with a nice mix of people and activities to do. It is gorgeous, has a bunch of green areas and very pleasant weather.

Most people in the their 20s start out with roommates here. The conditions vary wildly but are almost always habitable. Main issue is avoiding roommate drama but that’s never a guarantee.

Were you supposed to be on this escalator? Maybe went around the barricades or they had fell down or weren’t placed correctly? I have people I’ll ask if they remember this and I can possibly explain it better as for pictures that might be hard to come by.

Yeah, it’s a huge deal for the area. The DMV has a lot of complainers, but between metro, the Marc train, and Amtrak, it has one of the most connected and convenient metro systems in the country— and all very cheap!
