Thank you for notifying the public. As it is important for us all to be better community members, is there anything you’d like the public to know? I am a jogger, if I need to help kick someone’s butt I would be happy to do so. Just don’t know if there is some universal signal for I am being kidnapped. I assume not everyone screams, since it could happen so quickly.

So sorry — and I hope you feel safe walking your dog soon.

Oh OP, I'm so sorry this happened to you! I'm petite and same happened to me when I lived in FL (also major sex trafficking problems) and I was carrying a bag of garbage to the dumpster. You doing okay? If talking to a stranger with a similar experience helps, I'm happy to talk.

Real question is: if you traveled every year to see them, what would be your limit on trip time or distance?

Mine is 45 minutes, regardless of mode.

They should be, but understand that the goal of the hearing will have little to do with that. It will be a show hearing for soundbites to play on Fox News to sell whatever political agenda they may have ("Democrat cities are cesspools of crime!" "DC can't be a state, look at how bad it is!" "We have to revoke home rule in the name of Law and Order!" etc).

Oof reminds me of the time a classmate of mine warned me about taking uber, when it was new, and she claimed she was being kidnapped until she lied about someone waiting for her at a nearby gas station. Dude was driving in the opposite direction too. She told me to always pay attention to the map.

I read The Great Society Subway last year and a few things stood out:

  1. The relative lack of control the local governments had did help. It really was a federal project and local places either got in line or they got nothing. And no one really wanted to be left out so that's how we got all 5 (now 6) lines. You notice when the Feds had political leaders who liked metro things went better and when you had leaders who didn't then things slowed down a lot.
  2. Every time they tried to cut costs by rerouting or abandoning a line they ended up either not saving any money or finding out the original plan was probably the best all along.
  3. Bus service today suffers because it was forced to be part of metro after the fact and was never really integrated that well in terms of an overall service philosophy. They were promised as a better replacement for the city's streetcar system but never actually given a chance to do so.
  4. NPS has always been a villain when it comes to Metro. They fought hard against a "Smithsonian" station at all much less an entrance actually on the mall. Can you imagine?

I know what you’re saying but I don’t think they’ll get one legit question about the governance structure. Also they’re not going to listen to our electeds when they point out that easy access to guns is driving a ton of the violence. I get that it’s just one more finger to point but it’s ridiculous to have so many guns flowing into our city.

Had PNC as my loan provider. And they used a third party company to handle those kind of title requests. There’s no great way to track it/ they ended up not doing it. I ended up paying the rest of my loan balance (luckily wasn’t too much left) to get my title. It was the worst.

Good luck!

You’ll have to email or fax the request form (the DMV will give it to you) to your title company. Your title company has to mail the original title to the DMV of your choice.

You will have to follow up with your title company to see where they’re at in the process & this could take over 60 days. DC temp tags last for 45 days!
