I know it is always packed at the cherry blossom festival but I don’t recall the car issue being this absurd in the past?! Maybe I just forget how it was in the before times. Seriously though, why aren’t they closing the roads to anyone without a disability placard or shuttle busses? Seems like there are solutions here.

Architecture can be fun to learn about. Lots of cool examples in DC

I work downtown and generally avoid the tourists this time of year. But the older I get the more I appreciate where I live. Gorgeous picture.

Another commenter posted that they saw that. Hopefully they're getting towed/ticketed as well, that's just ridiculous.

They usually park on the shoulder of 395, too. No clue if anyone is doing that today though.

Yeah, it ain’t nothin’ like the 80’s when I grew up there and murdered all the time. Had a record going for a while...Mayor Barry and I used to ride Metro with Cocaine Bear all night!

Crossed the bridge via 66 an hour back and commented how there were so many cars just parked all over, the shoulder, pulled up on grass between roads, whatever folks felt like doing!

Yeah was super cool. Might have even been the first spot I went when I moved back to this area.

Rare Bird is a gem. Sometimes I feel like a broken record hyping it up but I honestly love the beans they source and roasts they do as much as any place I've ever ordered from. They do a really great job and the shop is such a nice local spot.
Report back how you like Cervantes! It's especially great if you enjoy the occasional sweet drink, their rotating sweet lattes are actually usually pretty creative and taste. Also I don't love coldbrew but they have the one of the few cold brews ive ever had and thought was interesting.

Exactly this. Both are chock full of features that are worthless if you don't go. I only have firsthand experience with Vida from pre-pandemic, and they (multiple locations) were great. But I've used Equinox in other cities and a very similar upscale gym vibe.

Yeah I only stopped in whenever I was in the area, but really appreciated having it there. Just felt cozier that most of the spots in that area.
And lol I've never seen them use them but I dig the desire to serve good coffee so I return occasionally.

Wanted to try using the Jefferson memorial differently during cherry blossom season. I really liked the aesthetics of the granite Japanese lanterns and made it my subject with the memorial in the background. I shot it at a distance of around 200mm to flatten the perspective to make both of them a similar size. DM me if you want the full res version!

FYI they do this as rage bait then leverage it on their media channels to get library staff fired.

And if you’re only working out at these expensive club-styles of gym you’re wasting money
You have to go there to hang out and enjoy the other amenities in addition to work outs
