This is simple and great advice. Even an extra 5-10 minute commute is enough to "nope" out of so many workouts

I do wish they would run the trains more often on peak weekends. I’m on the red line and had to wait 8 minutes for an already packed train.

The one that’s most convenient to where you live
You won’t get your money’s worth if it’s inconvenient to go there

They’re not hosting it. The publisher reserved a room

FYI DCPL is not hosting them. They booked a meeting room

Ran down there this morning and turned around because it seemed like an accident waiting to happen. It was insanely packed with cars—and while some of the drivers were trying to leave a lane (or at least a few feet) open for foot traffic and cyclists, the other half were abruptly swerving into any open space to try to get around the bumper to bumper traffic. Half the cyclists were going the normal direction even though traffic was reversed. Just a total clusterfuck that was dangerous and not enjoyable to anyone and that could have easily been avoided if they’d just shut down everything past the golf course to cars.

The mall area is essentially peak tourist season from early March to early June. But yes peak bloom is always especially bonkers. The tree lighting is another predictable bonkers event.

Weird in the past they've closed it to cars during peak bloom.

I think the FOMO over the cherry blossoms has been amplified by social media.
A few years ago we had a brilliant day similar to this - 68 degrees, sunny, blue skies - that coincided with peak bloom. It was pretty busy but it didn't seem anywhere as crazy as it does this year. Not nearly as many blossom photos on Reddit either.

It's ridiculous but it's the kind of question someone might have after watching one of the major cable news channels in the US that likes to talk about how dangerous cities are ad nauseam

Well, my memory is not great. But I’m pretty sure, not even once, not even a little bit.

Is the USA capital safe for half the population? What kind of question is this.

Do you know which neighborhoods are more sketchy in DC?

Yes, it's totally fine.
Depends what part of NYC and what part of DC you're talking about but the touristy parts of DC are generally more chill than the touristy parts of NYC (to me)

I rode my bike down there to see what all the hype was about. Complete chaos down there. Totally not worth it imo

Before COVID I, a lady person, would frequently commute into the city all by myself via public transportation for work, and I never got murdered.

Plus we just got out of one of the colder bits of weather this winter and have like absolutely perfect weather today.
