Your little $6000 savings is enough for first months rent, security deposit, and most of a month‘s cushion to find a job, if you’re ok with not having any furniture and not really eating. Yes, the MARC train is considered Light Rail…the Metrorail intersects at Union Station so you can switch there and take it wherever you want. Union Station is a perfect location to board your buses, get an Uber, taxis, etc. so you’ll have many options available to you. You can also walk to the Capitol from there which is basically the top end of the National Mall and work your way down by foot if you’d like. There’s also rental scooters and bikes everywhere.

Back in my late twenties, I was a manager of a small store for a small local grocery chain in DC. It was an ok job but I had marketable skills and degree to make a lot more money. A year later I was making 3 times what I was making as a manager. So yes, it wasn't a real job for me.
