Minnesota Ave is the closest DC stop on the metro route.
Or, you could do Rhode Island Ave, which is on the red line. Switch over to B/O/S at Metro Center.

There is a Smithsonian metro stop. It's on the Blue/Orange/Silver lines.

Hey FYI I went today - definitely not cherry flavoured and it was insanely delicious. I splurged for the fancy cake fish cone.

Lol yes. I shouldn't have assumed that visitors would know parking is paid.

Take the metro or a bus

Is there a metro station that you’d recommend ?

Drive to New Carrolton, take Metro.

All street parking, and they fill up fast. You're better off going to a metro station with parking garage, and metro-ing in. Alternatively, look for the adjacent neighborhoods and pay for parking there, then walk to the museum or museums of your choice. You're looking at about a mile walk or so, but contrarily you save yourself having to run in circles looking for the perfect parking spot.

There is no parking, unless you find a spot on the street. Most people walk from a public parking lot or take public transportation.

Your submission appears to be asking about parking.
Your first resources are available here and here.
Unless you are in a residential area of the city, there is no such thing as reliably free and easy long-term parking. Please read parking signs carefully, even locals get confused sometimes.
Useful apps for parking include ParkMobile for street parking and SpotHero for garage spaces.
Visiting a friend in the city? Ask them for a free visitor parking pass from any MPD station.
Did you receive a ticket? Are you guilty? If so, pay it. Pictures and incorrect information doesn't matter.
Parking resources for:
- American / Catholic / Gallaudet / Howard / GWU / Georgetown University
- Cap One Arena / Nats Ballpark / Audi Field
- The Capitol / City Center / the National Mall / Union Market / the Wharf

Was wondering about this! Drove through rock creek with intention of turning onto piney branch but it was closed. Took blagden up through crestwood and just saw smoke everywhere.

You should check out Mt Desert Island in Mt Pleasant! They have a sakura ice cream right now for the cherry blossoms.

Love the idea that tourists are now going to be calling the Washington monument “wash mon.” Not a criticism of you, just cracks me up
