This was my second year running. The local folks cheering us on kept me going. It was the group with Believe signs that gave me the biggest boost, plus the aforementioned cookies.
The Fife and Drum group at that awful hill in Rock Creek Park and the GoGo Band towards the end of the race were my favorites.

Scamming ebike rebates too. Buy a bike at a discount and resell it for the profit.

Yup. It happens the same time every year. For at least a decade. They announce the route far in advance.

It’s not like they don’t tell you what’s closed. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/rock-n-roll-half-marathon-to-close-dc-roads-friday-saturday/3304600/?amp=1

It’s a half marathon and fyi next year it’s 3/16 so you have time to plan.

Is Crystal City known for being crap, or was that just a joke?

Bummer about not finding the tunnels till the last day.
Sorry, didn’t mean to shit on TN. To be fair we were towards the end of a long trip so we may have just been ready to be home!
Loved the blue line. So wonderful! We have so many good memories of our trip.
Hope your trip was as great as ours!

100% agree. I have a car because I work weeks and nights and weekends suck for commuting

Metro has pretty consistently shown they can barely manage with the hours they have for maintenance, and a large part of what got them into a major hole in terms of maintenance in the 2000-2010s era was that the system prioritized more service at the cost of hours to get things done.
There are many maintenance activities that can move at much greater speeds when you can have both tracks down, and it's safer for the workers too. I'd certainly love 24/7 service, but Metro would need a fundamental restructuring of how it operates and how it does maintenance to even make it a remote possibility. The system wasn't built with 24/7 operation in mind.

Thanks! I think the problems DC has are the same as any American city, crime and car traffic. I don’t count that as a bad thing just a part of city living and it’s not bad here compared to other cities

Not at the expense of shutting down essentially every major road in the district for half a day

Loops around the mall or just have them run up and down the GW parkway

Rightfully so… Rock & Roll is awful in terms of street closures and impossible to plan around. It’s impossible to get around town before, during, or after.

This particular marathon is the worst of them all in terms of timing and street closures… and tbh should be banned to the suburbs

Just got back from checking out the cherry blossoms! At first I went because I know it's a popular thing to do and wanted to experience it, but they really are beautiful.

You would need around a $300k income to afford a million dollar property. That's about $22k in DC income tax on top of the property tax.
DC is about $14k ahead in taxes in this scenario.

Two THOUSAND?! Folks will buy bikes and just sell 'em. Come on.
Give all low income folks a free bikeshare membership. Much safer than a lot of the ebikes that have been flooding the market recently that have unsafe brakes/batteries.
