Not just the CEO. Multiple company officers sold all their stake and bounced.
You have it wrong. This thing is going to zero, or more likely bought out. The bounce is temporary, but lucrative if you bought calls before close (which I did).

Im in the US. So how much would I owe if I lost 4,619. I have no gains. So I have to pay taxes on losing money.

I apologize these aren't seg funds but market linked GICs. I used to sell these a lot way back when I worked at TD. TD had something but no guarantee return just guarantee principal. I still feel bad about them cause I sold a lot of 3 yr ones back in 2005-2006. The down side to these is that it's not compounded but they are great products for those more risk adverse but want to get in on the market action.

In US, you can deduct investment losses up to a limit on your return. It can potentially reduce your tax burden.

Yes, $60 and that's if you are lucky. I went thru the dot com bubble. Did you research any bear markets? Do you know Amazon went from about $100 to about $10 then. Did you check to see what it did during the GFC?

>Yes, you will still have to pay taxes on your net loss. The wash sale rule exists to prevent people from artificially inflating their losses in order to reduce their tax liability.

No. You’d likely owe nothing and have a carryover loss to apply to next year’s gains. But you still have to file the taxes showing you owe nothing.
