I will sometimes start watching from season two if I’m worried about exposition and character dumps.

I might miss some things but I can reverse engineer enough to see if the writing, acting, and feel is good enough that you can’t get in the first episodes of the first season.

Best are from the golden day's when Studios had in house orchestras and great Composers writing amazing theme tunes.

Personally favs would be ATeam theme or Magnum Pi theme. Don't make music like that anymore for TV.

Going against the grain here but really found the White Lotus S2 song super annoying.

I also don't like the music on some bigger HBO shows lately like Last of Us. It seems GoT-lite.

It's 68% at Metacritic, though. And reading through the relatively small number of critic reviews, it's more along the lines of "Show is uneven and struggles but it can be overall entertaining enough".

So, it's overall positive, but barely for most of the reviews. It's not like GoT or Breaking Bad "This is an incredible show" type reviews.

Yup as a complete obsessive fan, this is correct. It's a fantastic show, production value and writing was only overshadowed by sopranos and the wire. BUT...Duchovny leaving really wasn't healthy, Robert Patrick is a legend, but the real magic was the dynamic between Duchovny and Gillian Anderson combined with Chris Carters writing.

And huge shout out to Mark Snows compositions, music was huge part of the show

It actually got decent critical reviews - 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, and was the 3rd most streamed TV series across all platforms in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a second season, but I wouldn't hold my breath. My guess is Disney cares more about views than critical success, and it was pretty widely watched.

This was going to be my response, as well. It saddens me that I had to scroll down so far to see it. It must be the combination of being a nearly 30 year old show, that was cancelled after 8 episodes, and the fact that it's not streaming anywhere (legally, anyway, but it appears some episodes are on Youtube).

Fun fact, apparently Profit co-creator and Angel producer, David Greenwalt, wanted to bring the character onto Angel, having him join evil law firm Wolfram and Hart. Unfortunately, they ran into problems securing the rights to the character, and Adrian Pasdar was on a different show at the time.
