I mean data collection is their whole business model. Theyre going to drag their feet as much as possible

Reply to comment by XanKreigor in Meta stops offering remote work in new job postings as Mark Zuckerberg pushes the benefits of coming to the office by Ben_aid
But you are making a choice to work for them — no one if forcing you to do so. Don’t like the conditions of employment, don’t work there. No different than a company having a bad 401k contribution or PTO policy. Also, Meta isn’t worried about a few people bitching about gas money. Go check out Blind to see the vast line of people that would donate a kidney to get in there. Now, smaller regional companies, sure this could be a nice benefit.
I’m full time remote and would not want to go back anytime soon — but I also don’t apply to jobs that are listed as being in person or hybrid. Just the same as I don’t apply to jobs that are in other countries, other professions, etc.
Now, companies changing WFH policy sucks — ie hired full time remote and being told now they have to come in to the office — but, job conditions change all the time and as an at-will employee, it’s my choice whether those changes are worth leaving the company. Companies suck, make your choices accordingly and stop hoping they’ll do the ‘right’ thing you think they should do.

Italy is going to be a crazy place to visit in 100 years if they just kick out every new tech like this.

For sure but there are waaaay less jobs hiring as remote now, and the ones that are have tons of applicants.
People wouldn’t have to worry about this if the company that hired them as “100% remote, Work From Anywhere!”, didn’t just decide to completely change their work agreement. The only reason companies are doing this is the market tanking and everyone getting laid off

Evil and stupid are not mutually exclusive. Someone said ignorance is the great evil.

AI search actually allows you to do even more with ads. Microsoft is already implementing it into Bing AI

Totally get that. Happened to me. That’s when I found a new job instead of just complaining.

Bard is behind, but Google’s dominance buys them lots of time. I also think that just like Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant have been able to coexist, the same will be for AI chat bots.

Virgin very obviously backed the wrong horse many years (decades?, cant remember) ago and seem to have solely survived on ignorant journalists constantly hyping them for no obvious reason.
I doubt any smart money has been spent on them in some time and apparently the whole charade could only be exposed by a series of very high profile failures.
They've never had a product that made any sense, assume VG will go down the pan too since they're once again trying to sell something that doesn't even deliver the most basic requirement to a very tiny market.

Did they though? You can run your own with Stable Diffusion and actually choose your own models instead of theirs "exclusive" model. There's a website that has a bunch of models to download. You also can train your own model as well.
MJ isn't that special.

Yup. If you're a programmer or a graphic designer, be worried. You're not going to make an AI that can collect water samples and analyze them in the lab so my job is safe.

But they are making the choice to have employees. No one is forcing them to do so either. We do, however, force companies to pay employees for time worked in all cases. The commute should be a part of that.
If employers don't want to pay employees for time worked, employees should refuse to work there.
