Union busting is an easy value proposition for corporations. The burden of proof is high. The rate of enforcement is VERY low. The punishment for doing it is really minimal. Even in a worst-case scenario, it's worth it for them to try every union busting tactic they can think of.

Until the punishment fits the crime, the union busting will continue.

Not sure if this belongs here, but I figured I would ask anyway.

I use an HP Spectre laptop with an Acer monitor as a second display... Or well, I try to, but each cable I use dies within 3-6 weeks; with the exception of this most recent one, which died after 6 days. Since the monitor is older, I use VGA -> HDMI-adapted cables. I checked, and there isn't a problem with my laptop or my monitor. The problem arises with the cables themselves.

So my question is: How do I fix this for the long-term? I don't have the money to keep buying new cords every few weeks. This recent one that I bought wasn't all that cheap, so I'm disappointed that it died before the less expensive ones did. I read that you shouldn't often plug/unplug the adapter cables because it's really damaging to them. I can safely say that I unplugged this recent cable only twice before it crapped out. I can't go without my monitor for too long, as I use both screens for work and school. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I find Teams somewhat decent for our corporate chat and meetings environment. The recordings and automated transcripts are neat. Search and history sucks though, I can never property go back in time in a conversation, it always just loads the one message my search matched and won't load in anything else around it.

Wouldn’t it be an easy fix to make laws against using AI to impersonate anyone? We should all have a right to own our face and voice. That seems simple enough to regulate as well. It won’t stop all of it but will be better than nothing.

It’s sad, I enjoyed working there early days in red zone, but as soon as I entered a role with metrics the BS and knives in the back came out, it was like working at a highschool. One team member got spoken too because he mentioned a party in the break room and invited his friends and someone felt left out and reported as bullying Had the biggest shit eating grin when I handed them my resignation after 7 years. Perks were good, but that place was killing me. Stay safe internet friend.
