Magisk can be detected and most apps that are doing banking or commerce will flag a device as fraud if it’s detected.

Fox News lawyers literally claimed “no reasonable person” should take Tucker Carlson as news, and won their case because the judge agreed his reputation as a lying exaggerating shithead should be enough for people to realize he’s a lying shithead. But that judge clearly overestimated the intelligence of Fox News’ audience.
Also, apparently legal precedent now says as long as you’re such a huge bloviating piece of shit that everyone “reasonable” knows you as such, you can get away with lying on air to millions of people, so they’re not going to stop - they now have a clear incentive to be even worse and keep pushing boundaries that appeal to the dumbest & least reasonable people out there.

No. But we should not be advocating either approach of the west or the east.

Hi! That actually depends on what kind of a lemon you expect it to be :)
I would first start with trying to boot it "as-is" and see what happens. Do not connect it to any network at this stage, as you don't know if it is full of malware or not. If it does not boot, there is no reason to panic (yet). Get a bootable USB with an OS that can run off removable media (e.g. Ubuntu) and try to boot off it. Once you boot, you can test graphics, sound, etc. If you booted from a USB media, you can also test network, as you trust this OS.
If everything is fine until now, you have a decision to make. Do you trust this OS enough to use embedded functions to clean it (won't remove most of malware), or do you want to install from scratch (will remove everything off the laptop). Some of the laptops may have a recovery partition that you can boot off and get the computer to an "out of factory" state. I wouldn't recommend this in most cases as the OS will be old and will require a lot of updates.
Let me know how you would like to continue and we will guide you through :)

>A simple search for "best pc for gaming" leads to a page dominated by sponsored links rather than helpful advice on which computer to buy.
If this is how you open then I'm not going to bother to read the rest.
The ads might not seem helpful, but the query is braindead. If you seriously type this into Google then you don't know what you're asking for. You're actually better off going with one of those mass-market gaming PCs that are being advertised.
If you actually want to know the right answer to this question, you don't ask Google to recommend a PC. You look at the games you want to play and the hardware they recommend. Then you can decide which prebuilt system is right for you or if you want to build your own.
The sponsored links, like it or not, are probably the most frustration free direction to take for someone making that braindead query.

You can't tell people to harm themselves here, brigade them, harass them, and so on, without recourse.
You can do just that in China.

Many do not realize that. They fall for the whataboutism rhetoric. It's all fun and games until the projects start failing and the debt is inescapable.

Save the Internet Archive - to your hard drive :-). I've done thousands of books that way in the course of my personal research.
The popular "pirate" sites are better at new and popular stuff, while the IA is better at old and obscure material. They are not the same.

You do realize these countries accept them because IMF and others offered even worse rates and stipulations that interfered with how they run their country? China doesn't have special mind bending powers that hypnotized these countries into taking their deal.

Right, because we know that investors totally are not a major influence on big corporation's business direction and their primary motivation is money, not good products - just so long as they can get away with that.

TFW the RESTRICT Act would apply harsher sentencing to someone using a VPN to get to tiktok ($250k / 20 years) than the charges for which the ATF initially raided the Branch Davidians (NFA violations, $250k / 10 years).
