Exactly same as the TikTok trash heap of a debate. We are in a new era of yellow journalism. ALL journalism is focused on profit now; not truth. When those two happen to align, it’s great, but media orgs aren’t fretting themselves anymore on the latter. It’s whatever gets them revenue and their main source of free leads is government officials spoonfeeding them propaganda. They’d rather say, “wait, you don’t trust the government? Are you paranoid, schizo?” than have to gather and investigate stories on their own, which takes time and money. Instead, they have to gaslight us into thinking it’s us who turned yellow and not them.

Yep, and the production cost goes down as soon as you use enough of the more expensive infrastructure to build units; set-up, development, purchasing new machines, building new processes have a steeper initial cost than you would pay to maintain their operation. It is a whole new platform with entirely new equipment and processes.
Most of the objections against EVs are not based on how they are performing in the market, their desirability, and the ROI over time.

Google search has been a useless search tool for close to a decade, it's entirely populated by paid-for spots and doesn't serve anything even remotely niche

Wait are you really trying to argue that prioritizing and giving special treatment to SOME content because it gets higher engagements is LESS censorship than just getting rid of the algorithm? What?

That's probably not true. You have oil money arab billionaires who drive around with tigers and lions in their million dollar sports cars. But maybe it is true, cause they have the good sense to not try and buy Twitter.

Basically, the top comment in this thread, they lost money because overpriced? If I'm on a 6 months waiting list, kind of seems like they are underpriced, which could be a real reason you lose money on something.

On one hand, SMS is not free. On the other hand, maintaining a short code is like $3000 quarterly last time I had it quoted, and you're looking at $0.003 for outbound text messages and $0.0009 for inbound. You'd also have to maintain a block list to remain compliant with FCC regulations, though doing the service as opt-in only may get you around that a bit.
Now let's do some napkin math. If the 450,000,000 active users perform a login once a month that triggers second factor, you'd take that $0.003 and multiply it by the total active users. That gives us $1,350,000 in outbound SMS fees. That is... actually quite a bit more money than I expected.

yeah, i stopped using it the day Elon took over (wish I’d quit years earlier!). Occasionally people send me links to tweets, so I see that tweet and then a few “more tweets” beneath. the “more tweets” are invariably two shitty “jokes” by Elon, and one semi-racist joke from a self-described “centrist”.

When I finally went in to the office I was surprised at the amount of people who had been coming in regularly. Engineers with young children and older engineers with a retired spouse 😂😂

I think this should be mentioned more. Making people commute when they don't have to is just not good for the environment.

Worst decision ever. After allowing users to buy blue check marks of course. It undermines the purpose of verification. The blue check mark on Twitter was meant to verify the authenticity of an account. Now it’s useless.

I don't know that "looks natural" was the point of this demo. As someone said elsewhere, they produced a facial capture animation that was 85% accurate to what the actress did in about 3 minutes, using an iphone. That's pretty impressive.

Yeah but I am probably twice as effective as a software engineer not being in office filled with distractions. If companies cared about the actual work being done, rather than real estate leases, this would be non issue
