It's mostly because you won't find anyone of reasonable intelligence who falls for the BS.

There's a certain level of intelligence that enters the "quantum mechanics" level of emulation, which in the practical sense, cannot be applied to practical utility in any sense of the word. There are countless papers about consciousness, reality, and an insane amount of metaphysical concepts all crammed into one list. It's the same as teaching science fiction as fact, when we have no reality to base it on.

There is a large gap between what is metaphysical, and what is realistic in this industry. The people who follow the reality of what is happening, are following the works of those scientists who create the work, not the ones who are constantly doomsaying about the outcome of the work without understanding it.

If you follow those pragmatic men and women, you may find the answers you're interested in. This entire industry is full of liars, scam artists, shams, snake oil salesmen, and everything between the lines.

If you find a group of reasonably intelligent and competent pragmatic scientists who are basing their work off the engineering aspects of what they're building, you'll find a group of men and women who just want to keep building. There's a deep passion to develop systems like this in the hopes to someday reach the singularity.

The ultimate goal is to provide every human the ability to intuitively know calculus, trig, deep psychological complexities, philosophy, sciences, art, and everything else that any human could desire to have access to knowledge-wise.

I personally find daily amazement of watching proto AGI just run on college math level of algorithmics.

I find amazing GPL3 is easier to comprehend than h.265 for example.

Never was the discrepancy between the power of the output and the modesty of the inputs so large.

It allows me to get more involved into what is going on and eager to see more :-)

This is the first time to me that the world has felt so alien compared to the one we grew up in. This must be how it felt to the other generations too, watching man land on the moon, or the Internet come in when they were already fully grown adults with a mortgage. It's uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing. This change is at odds with our entire evolutionary and cultural history.

At the same time, humanity is growing into its limitless potential. It's also exciting. What can we accomplish now that eluded us before? Can we really make the world better now, and remove all sorts of needless suffering like illness, death, and slavery? What will we become if we make it to the other side of this singularity?

none. I haven't even brought it up once because I know nobody is going to care until shit starts hitting the fan. That's another reason, I think too many people here think agi is going to pop up in a month or two, and I mean dont get me wrong we're moving at a fast pace BUT we don't even know if sentient AI is possible. it's entirely possible we're going to hit a hard wall with AI and never advance. We don't know when shit's gonna hit the fan could be tomorrow, could be a week, a month, a year, a decade, even a century.

I’m pretty shocked by all this but hopeful and excited. I believe humanity’s purpose as a species is to innovate and grow. AGI will accelerate our species to godlike levels.

Aliens, if they are out there, will absolutely come hang with us. I think nuclear fusion and ASI are the prerequisites for participating in the Galactic Federation, and we have both.

“BuT fUsIoN iS dEcAdEs AwAy!”

“bUt AGI iSn’T eVeN hErE yEt”

We were talking about a computer, the size of the planet, with a global net work of unsecured connections that it can access for live data on anything it wants to know, with the entire history of the worlds knowledge at its digital fingertips.

People don’t understand exponential growth.

With existing technologies, we can have a computer that can improve its self, run billions of simulations on how to do things, and choose the best option.

It’s like that scene in infinity war, where Doctor Strange look at 14 million possible futures.

It will be able to do that for everything.

It already can.

We talk about robot overlords, but at a certain point, why would it even care about us at all?

I dunno about fake jobs, but I think hobbies will be the closest to anything resembling a job in 15-20 years. I mean certain fields will still exist but I think they will be more for people who want to work with AI/robotics whatever as they complete their tasks. “I personally would love to have a AI therapist job”. No I’m not a therapist now I actually help autistic individuals live normal lives but I would be ever so excited to help improve relationships and connections between man and machine.
