Reply to The current danger is the nature of GPT networks to make obviously false claims with absolute confidence. by katiecharm
No, it's not.
The current danger is our progress towards AI development continues, while AI allignment trails behind.
No one is scared of ChatGPT, or GPT-4. This is what AI doom looks like, and it only has very little to do with 'truth'.

Everybody dismisses the idea of free product. Big brands already hand out free tshirts when it costs them full price to produce, if the production cost were leveled to the ground then companies will be throwing smartphones at you just to see you carry their logo around.
The big crunch of today is housing, because there isn't enough of it, because our pyramid scheme overlords do not make maximum profits if the rest of us have sufficient supplies. The thinking machine will boost supply long before it abolishes human work.

The ideal amount of money to have saved is as much as you can afford.

In the Twilight Zone episode Brain Center At Whipple's the CEO is replaced by a robot. The robots job? To pace around the office swinging a watch. People have always known these are BS jobs.

The psychopathic shareholders who control all the wealth and capital will just use AI to continue doing psychopathic things.
It's not looking good for us without some near immediate collective action.

Nice work. The idea of any world populated with NPCs that talk with ChatGPT coherence and awareness... Imagine instead of the classic "and then I took an arrow in the knee", randomly catching an interesting discussion between two guards about the actual threats. Makes me wish I was born 10 years later

If you pick the last option, what would you say? I’ve heard 10 years worth of cost of living expenses before.

This is key. Supply and demand. Wages will drop all around from decreased supply and increased demand.
If Universal Healthcare and UBI aren't top issues in the next election we are more trouble than most expect.

This is an early version of a Python script I am working on which lets you talk to Skyrim NPCs using ChatGPT and xVASynth. Once the script is running, NPCs can be loaded by saying "Hello" + NPC name. The relevant voice model for that NPC is then loaded, along with a summary text of their background and any of their previous conversations with the player.

If you went to college and actually learned how to educate yourself, think logically and complete something complex by breaking it down into smaller tasks. Then you will do fine over the next few decades regardless of what happens, as long as you keep learning new things and adapting to change.
People who learned how to do something 10 years ago and have not improved since, and plan on the world standing still with them are going to get a massive wakeup call in the next 24 months.

It's a real loose grid. I wanted to visualize some of the dystopian/utopian stuff I've seen in many of these stories. Evil is probably the wrong term, Malevolent is more accurate.
Wall-e is good AI. Wall-e stands out in that qurdent (good AI, cautionary story) it's all about sustainability. The AI isn't trying to hurt anyone, but people can't help themselves. Humans create machines to feed and entertain then pure gluttony and nihilism takes hold.

And its time to train up one of these AI models to response as if it were the hitchhikers guide (e.g. get the humor right).

It’s so weird that while I was reading your post, I really didn’t visualize anything but words itself. I was shocked that I just skim thru in totality and got what you meant. The weird thing is that I really do not remember the specific of how you get to your conclusion but a general idea.
It was as if I didn’t even pay attention to the words in your post but just sort of looked at them. You are right. We don’t need to visualize things to have thoughts.
I would say that when you see something specific and identifiable. Something which is an object, a thing, or a noun to describe real things. I can sort of picture what it is. But most of the time, I would argue that a higher dimension of reasoning, really just comes from the words and how they are combined.
