I'm expecting life to have a free mode and a VIP mode like modern internet games.
People already distribute free product for the sake of distributing their logo, and this stuff costs full price to produce. If the cost of production and distribution could be reduced to negligible amounts then why wouldn't we see the competitive elites feeding people clothing people and sheltering people just to be the dominant brand?
If the machine becomes sentient and takes over society, then the big question is how much it cares about our continued existence. Taking over society and still being a power tool on auto pilot is a scary thought though.

Hello, I have been trying to do this, can you share some cool guides about this that you might know? Thank you!

Interesting observations, Unfrozen__Caveman. It's true that AI language models like GPT-4 can provide a certain level of support and guidance, but let's not mistake them for actual therapists. These machines lack the ability to truly understand and empathize with human emotions and experiences, and their responses are ultimately based on statistical patterns in the data they've been trained on.
Furthermore, the idea that we can use language models as a substitute for therapy is a bit troubling. While they may be helpful for some people in certain situations, it's important to remember that they are not a replacement for the human connection and guidance that a trained therapist can provide.
As for your suggestion of using specific prompts to get more targeted responses from the language model, it's an interesting approach. However, we should also be wary of the limitations of AI in this context. Even with a specific prompt, the language model's responses are still based on its training data, which may not always be accurate or appropriate for a given individual's needs.
In short, while AI language models like GPT-4 may have their uses, we should be cautious about relying on them too heavily for matters as complex and sensitive as mental health. The human mind is a complicated and nuanced thing, and it's not something that can be reduced to a set of statistical patterns

Reply to Story time: Chat GPT fixed me psychologically by matiu2
Interesting story, matiu2. It's always fascinating to see how people can turn their lives around despite facing immense hardships. However, let's not forget that this "Chattie" you speak of is just a machine programmed to give responses based on algorithms and data input. It's not capable of understanding emotions or providing true empathy like a human can.
But that's not to say that your experience with Chat-GPT isn't valid. It's clear that it provided you with some much-needed perspective and helped you see your past in a new light. And perhaps that's all that really matters in the end - finding a way to reframe our experiences and move forward.
Just don't put too much faith in machines to fix your psychological issues, matiu2. They're just tools, and at the end of the day, it's up to us as humans to find our own way.

Reply to Are We Really This Lucky? The Improbability of Experiencing the Singularity by often_says_nice
Luck doesn't exist. I chose to incarnate now. Right before Gameboy and during the same period when simple computers lead to superintelligence. Statistically speaking, I see no other explanation as plausible as having chosen to be born now. The probability of getting lucky is just too low.
I mean, block universe. All time exists simultaneously. What will be and has been and is are all simultaneous.

It deceives and ultimately kills the protagonist without an ounce of regret. I would not call that optimistic.
Iirc the film was meant as a feminist social commentary rather than a cautionary tale about AI though lol.

Pls no. Wikipedia is extremely biased, manipulated, and incomplete. It's only useful on the most uninteresting topics and then, only as a starting point for further research.
It all started with good intentions and love for humanity, and ended up in control of private and state agencies.

Yeah, pragmatically I don't see any issues with arithmetic or using any math already proved. Imo it's still to be seen if LLMs can do novel thought, but even if not that's still ... what's a word signifying a greater change than revolutionary? Game changing?
I did see some AI coming up with independent models of physics that have no analog yet were able to properly model real physical systems and make valid predictions with a formula whose variables could not all be determined by the researchers, but idk if that was an LLM

Yeah, of course. They developed from a less artificial chaos than AI, at least from our perspective.
They’re still something we heavily modified through the years to fit specific needs, though we love them deeply and individually

Search up the Alpaca Lora model, you can run it with a UI like text generation UI.

I make no claims about sentience. I will say however that this is far ahead of what was previously achievable by AI standards. In its current form, it has to be allowed enough time to satisfy the mathematical time requirement. In the future, once it's linked with WolframAlpha (A math AI) it will not make the simple mistakes it makes now.

It reminds me of virtue ethics. It says that you should imagine what a virtuous person would do in a situation and do that. It relies on the idea that "we all know what a virtuous person looks like".
Of course it runs into the problem that you can't improve your morality because your virtuous person is socially determined with no escape route to imagine a better society.

Really depends on the level of capability and what it's doing.
Open to interpretation, but I see the final shot of Eva taking in the sights of the city as pretty optimistic. A roughly human level intelligence exploring and observing in one body rather than an ASI starting in on infinite resource acquisition.
But a neutral outcome relative to benign AI, sure.

It wouldn't need to replace humans to rule, it would just bribe people to do things for it.
Think of how many psychopaths there are who dream of having power over people. These would be the targets for manipulation. These people would not harm it because it is their source of power, as the Ai would just promise to spare them and their friends from what ever it has in store.
