They accidentally did a “everything .50” sale at the end of February- it was wild in there and they were just throwing stuff in bags at the register and not even scanning. Next day there was a leadership looking person yelling it was a mistake and everything is still $1.25

Native born Richmonder here. We pronounced it Lee. Parham is pronounced “Pair-‘em” and Powhite is pronounced Po-White, at least from the 1940s. There was never any controversy about the pronunciations until the 1980s, making the alternates a newish phenomenon. Coincidentally, the 1980s is when growth seemed to really take off in the area and lots of people moved from other places. Probably where the pronunciation conflict stems from. Of course, perhaps it was just not mentioned in the media at the time and, of course, no social media.

First off, I'm sorry for your loss.

Hopefully, some others that have navigated the process will be able to jump on here and add some insight, as navigating the Veterans Affairs stuff is, complicated, and when my pop passed away he already had everything in place since he knew his time was limited (Agent Orange) and my mother and brother took the lead with that stuff.

Depending on his status after discharge and his record, he should be eligible for some funeral services through the V.A. https://www.benefits.va.gov/compensation/claims-special-burial.asp

You may also want to post this question in a few of the Veteran Affairs, US Air Force, or other US military based subreddits out there, as they may be better suited to help guide you.

Again, I'm sorry for your loss, and I wish you luck as you navigate the unnecessary bureaucracy that is the VA...
