Reply to I want to open an HYSA to put my savings in. Which place should I look into first? by Key_Editor1985
I just did this recently. I already had a couple accounts with PNC and saw that they offered 4% so I added it to my portfolio and moved funds into it.

How long is long term?
You do realize that through all of this uncertainty that the market is up about 6% YTD?
What would I do? Invest it, then delete the app from my phone and not look at it for a year.

Don’t do it man. No offense but your knowledge seems super limited. Educate yourself on this process a ton more than think about it.

Sorry, I didn’t explain that correctly. New engine and other stuff not as urgently needed, but still needed really soon.

Reply to 22 and in $10,000+ Debt by Balance_Holiday
Try using either the Avalanche or the Snowball method to bring down your debt. There are YouTube videos that have extensive information on these two methods. Prep your own meals and refrain from going out to eat. Pause all investments including IRAs. Just invest enough of your salary to receive your company's matching contribution for your 401 K. Once you have ended your debt your options will open up immediately to save and invest more aggressively for other endeavors.
Cut out the Hulu, HBO max, Spotify temporarily.

I don’t like it personally. What industry? If you work from home now find another work from home gig.

I don’t recommend lying to your workplace about your true worksite location. I work in payroll and someone did this. Said they “lived” in Texas but actually lived elsewhere. The amount of trouble and taxes they had to pay back was not fun.

It’s just quite a ‘rural’ area, I suppose I’m used to scams happening in city centres etc but this is in a distant suburb very late at night when raining etc, but yes not really sure what I mean by that haha

I find new/old-1 to be so much easier to follow.

Maybe they like where they live and their family is happy there. Not everything is about money.

Since this is a personal finance subreddit I’ll just focus on that.
Set up a 529 account for the baby. Good idea to pass that info around to fam and friends to contribute on their birthday.
If you’re planning on utilizing childcare, make sure you factor in costs of daycare or nanny services. Where I am it’s about ~$1400/month.
Don’t buy too many baby clothes yourself. They’ll probably be gifted and the baby grows sooo fast that you’ll be left with a ton of clothes (some of which they didn’t wear).
Costco diapers are the way to go. Don’t buy too many newborn sizes. Focus on sizes 2-4.

Yes, I believe payments would be around $2k a month. Which is not too far of from what I would be paying for an apartment - most 1brs starting at $1500

Then why are you worried about short term fluctuations?
