Damn, I'm sorry for your loss, but you didn't even want to go and she really pushed you. Not like it was your idea and then you left her behind. You did what you had to do to survive in a situation that you never wanted to be in to begin with. Can't say I blame you

Just out of curiosity, do you know any of the guys that are on "The Deadliest Catch" or is that a whole separate thing? I figure anyone crab fishing in the Bering Sea is probably familiar with all of the other fishing boats, it seemed like it was a big network and everyone knew everyone. You definitely won't catch me out on the open ocean but I love watching the show and I have a lot of respect for what you do. It's probably one of the hardest jobs out there

A thumbnail can take many culinary forms but none are particularly easy to eat in large amounts. Much like lentils they need to be broken down somewhat to bring out their flavor. If you have the patience to collect thumbnails they make an excellent flour which has the added benefit of being gluten free. So, you see, a thumbnail can be a loaf of bread or many other baked goods.

Absolutely beautiful story, this is one i'll have to come back to in order to fully digest.

The repeated themes of the flood, rain and river, the horses, the cancer, the feeling of being so nearly done with a horrific ordeal and the silent acceptance that only time will help it pass, the solemn and short conversations with your father as you watch him wither, it's all so well crafted.

One of my favorite tales I've read in months. The once in a century flood is once in a century tale, well done 😁
