I came from Boston, but moved here when I was 30. I wasn’t trying to party or be hip, but I love eating good food and having a good drink which there are many options. I love walkability, and I like small local businesses. With that, I like New Haven. And judging by the crowds downtown on the weekends, so do many others in the area.

You can’t compare it to Boston really, because “Boston” is also Somerville, Southie, Dorchester, etc. I’d say overall New Haven is more like Cambridge. Or maybe more like Providence.

If you’ve visited any area besides the direct blocks around Yale, and you felt like it was your vibe, then you’ll prob like it.

I just moved out of Fairhaven Heights and it's not bad. I lived near the water though and a lot of houses there are renovated or new construction so it's nicer. I never felt unsafe walking my dog after work at 12am around the grand bridge area. I'm a 28m for reference.

Just make sure your building doesn't flood regulary, I moved out because my buildings basement was moldy af and I could smell it regularly on the top floor if it was bad.

I have normally set up a payment plan through MyChart (it’s 0% interest). Then sometimes they’ll eventually offer 10/15% off if you pay the rest of your balance in full for hospital and physician services respectively.

Did you actually see a physician? Yale very frequently has you see a midlevel with far less training/education and then has the physician sign the chart later without ever seeing you. If that happens, you can claim fraud, billed services not rendered, etc.

This is probably more common in the adult ER than the pediatric ER however.
