You pointed to crime and health conditions at the camp

You said Elicker had no choice but to bulldoze the camp.

You said your partner worked with the camp and posted a story about the head of Cornell Scott’s homeless outreach director ( confused - your partner? It wasn’t clear)

All suggesting this might be the position of the homeless healthcare outreach program, so maybe you could clarify that

Nowhere have I said they should’ve bulldozed. I have not advocated for that ever. Notice I just moved, but I did advocate, send letters, met with the council person and tried to effect change that would help these people become housed. I however empathize with both sides. When they emptied out the mill river neighborhood’s encampment they just moved to the other side of the city. I feel that free and affordable housing should be available to help people in a tough spot. Bulldozing is not the answer. Solving the housing and drug crisis is the answer.

Somehow you want me to be the bad guy here, not sure why.

Some of the Planet Fitnesses around are pretty nice (Orange and Middletown are my favorites; Hamden isn’t bad). However, the equipment is limiting (no squat racks or barbells onto which you can load your own plates - you’re confined to a lot of smith machine, dumbbell, and fixed-weight barbell work). I appreciate having the Black Card for the value and convenience (especially when traveling). Good hours, too (24/5)! I’ll always keep it, at least as a secondary gym.

I, too, am in the market for a reasonably-priced gym that suits my more advanced lifting needs. I’m going to do a trial at Surge Fitness Center (North Haven) this week and will report back. I’ve heard only excellent things, and they seem to have decently-priced memberships ($20-30/month). Their hours are a bit limited, for my liking. But I’m hopeful that this could otherwise be a good fit. You get a free workout during your first visit, so I’d encourage you to give it a go, too!

I’d discourage you from the Edge. For me, it’s a bit of a “meathead” environment. Very busy. Lots of people taking up space to take pics, socialize, etc.. I had a hard time getting my workouts in efficiently, and the overall energy wasn’t a match for me.

Wishing you health and happy workouts. (:

I used Silverline Restoration for my roof - they used GAF architectural shingles with a 50 year life. I have a simple gable roof and they weren’t too pricey ($7500 total). I used Sunpower for my solar panels. As someone mentioned above, they’re a little pricier but they’ve been around since the 80s and their panels have a very low degradation rate. Also they have a 20 year warranty for panels, inverters, roof leaks, and maintenance. Make sure you tally up your electricity usage for a year so that you’re not oversold a bigger system than you need. A few companies I interviewed tried to sell me a system that was way larger than I needed and therefore way more expensive.

Bar August, Firehouse 12, Three Sheets, Anchor Spa, Cave a Vin, Ordinary, 116 Crown, Rudy’s, Cannon. Any brewery: Armada, East Rock, NEBCO. Cafe Nine and Stella Blues if there’s a good show. Gather has beer and has nice events.

There’s probably more bars that are good for a chill solo experience than not.
