If you want old school Italian I’d add Adriana’s to the list.

Olea is too fussy - all those foams and reductions and tiny portions. Meh.

I’ve never liked Olea. I’d go to Union League or Tavern on State. If they’re from someplace landlocked then Shell and Bones.

Luke, Rockfish, Tavern on State, Fair Haven Oyster, Hachiroku, Olea, Union League.
Nolo for a nicer pizza atmosphere.

From Hamden, prospective route(s) and time(s) vary based on potential starting point. To drive to Waterbury, traveling via New Haven is an unusual option (e.g., never from northern Hamden where back roads to Rt 8 or travel via Cheshire to I-84 may be alternatives; Centerville or Spring Glen neighborhoods via Rt 15 to Woodbridge to Seymour via Rt 8 to Waterbury; maybe only travel via New Haven if near Hamden/New Haven border).

Not me but I just want to reward you with praise as this is the first time this month I have seen someone spell "lose" (not "loose") correctly. It was really starting to get to me.

I wished Camacho Garage was better. It’s inconsistent as hell and super expensive. She’ll and Bones too

Lol numerous people have OD’d in the New Haven green in one weekend along - it’s getting used for much more than just a “public space”.
It’s just a shame is all, because it could be a boon for New Haven but instead it’s widely known (and accurately so) as a place mostly for drug addicts and severely mentally ill to do whatever the fuck they want

Is it just me or is the food at Union League average? I had the sea bass and it didn't taste particularly tender. The desserts I suspect were outsourced.

They laid off all staff during the pandemic without calling anyone back for over a year. Their executive chef left and they’ve had an identity crisis. He pretty much salvaged the restaurant. When they first opened it was a shitshow too. The only thing keeping it floating is the hotel.

True. zinc did get new owners and a new chef. Could be better. They’re running some old dishes but it mostly caters to an older downtown clientele

That’s true just don’t want to have to drive 30 mins to have something to do on my off time. Not from ct so looking for something more familiar

Got it, just thinking that if you’re concerned about traffic and you’re looking to move somewhere, don’t intentionally put yourself in a place that forces you to commute by car and contribute to traffic
