the food is consistently quite nice. atmosphere is, i think, maybe not "fine dining" exactly.

84 W outside of Waterbury can be a parking lot. Try to avoid. I know there are ways to spend very little time on 84 I just can’t remember details.

I do it everyday. Rt34 to Rt8, never any traffic unless there's an accident or the state decides to close a lane for construction (which they do occasionally). Same with the drive home. Traffic is always going the opposite direction.
Edit: school busses on 34 are a bitch but very narrow window 7:20 till about 7:35.

Here's another article that shows research & analysis that programs like these aren't beneficial to anyone but the police and state employees, who always see increased budgets from the revamped PR it provides. These social workers and police decrease public safety when it comes to health, especially mental health and substance abuse support: https://newrepublic.com/article/167627/defund-social-workers

Social workers and many health care professionals are also a part of our justice system in some capacity and do criminalizing work. Its not just the police, its the police and every institution that prioritizes police involvement over community care. There is overwhelming research from various institutions and universities showing that vulnerable and marginalized people benefit from police absence. That includes social workers, who often are obligated to work directly with police, which has produced a long legacy of negative results.
There's a district that took that research into consideration and removed both cops and state social workers from their schools - the results were extremely positive for the mental health of both the students and teachers. Our vulnerable populations, especially youth and mentally ill folk, deserve so much better than the program New Haven is planning to implement.
Here's the article for reference: https://inthesetimes.com/article/the-city-that-kicked-cops-out-of-schools-and-tried-restorative-practices-instead

Based on years ago, mind you, among commutes I would think that one is not really bad, even taking the Merritt to 8. I knew a Waterbury city employee who chose Westville to live.

Are you familiar with the program? They're bringing in social workers and mental health professionals to help folks going through a hard time, instead of criminalizing their behavior.

Used to work in Farmington and lived off whalley and would take 69 all the way to 84 daily and if u get it early enough it’s not bad. A bit worse on the way home

I used to commute Wallingford to Plainville, which is about half of the area you’re talking about. It was rough since 15 is two lanes (it moves even when congested, but the smallest obstacle slows everyone down) and 691 was…. stressful… for me, during morning rush. That was my experience anyway, good luck.
