Since we're talking posts as well, I'll nominate that thing people do where there are already active posts on a topic, but they'll pretend they didn't see them and start another about the exact same thing... presumably because they see the subject is getting a lot of engagement and want to reposition it with themselves as the center of attention.

On a case-by-case basis I can't prove that's what any given individual is doing, but it happens way too often and sometimes it's such an out-of-the-blue topic that I have a hard time believing the 2nd guy thought of it independently without having seen the other post. Plus you can often tell it's about them getting attention because they're usually some thread-sitting mfers lol

I think it helped that Chandon was a stock broker on Wall Street while writing the flick (or was before he wrote it, can’t remember). It adds an authenticity to how they talk, like how every one of the bosses doesn’t understand the technical shit hahaha

I'm in the camp of "The Lost World came out when I was, like, 7 and I love it for nostalgia reasons". For the most part I can totally look past the faults in the T-Rex in San Diego sequence. But I agree with your assessment here, especially the parts about adding Van Owen and Roland to the sequence and how that could've made it so much better. Never really thought about it like that.

Edit: And I absolutely hate thinking about what the hell happened on the boat. It makes no sense. I pretty much have to ignore it when watching.

There’s another Denzel movie called Out of Time that’s a similar vibe to those other ones (although not as good). And if you haven’t seen The Equalizer movies with him, I think you’d like them. There’s a couple Harrison Ford movies from the 90s that are great, Clear & Present Danger, Patriot Games, and Air Force One. White House Down. Lucky Number Slevin. Broken Arrow. The Rock. Those are all I can think of off the top of my head.

John wick was great but Mad Max is on a different level.

The John wick action scenes feels like an action scene, they usually paus the story and they feel very coregraphed.

The Mad max action scenes are weaved a lot more seamlessly into the the film and a lot of the time it furthers the story and develops the characters

Mad Max also had way more unique action set pieces, it had better cinematography to elevate the action scenes, it had a better soundtrack to energize the action
