I mean I think there is plenty to show and tell of their lives. I bet they refocus the film to center the Burkhart family and show their life and wealth and how they deal with the loses of their family members close and distant along with their relationship with Hale and his role in the community. Then will have White and the investigation and all the craziness that happened there but show him struggling with a community that is lying and benefiting from these deaths.

Did you ever watch the short documentarymade about this? It aired in PBS.

This is something endemic to online movie discourse as a whole, but too many people treat movies less like entertainment and more like IQ tests where the more plot holes you point out, the smarter you are.

"Hidden Gems": Moon, The Nice Guys, King Arthur (Guy Ritchie), Edge of Tomorrow, Event Horizon, etc.

Posting horribly racist and sexist comments when a movie that has anyone but white men in it.

Any movie that is weird, outside of the norm, or an indie film gets barely any comments or traction, and you have users in comments going: "looks boring", "who cares"

I disagree. Obviously you shouldn't insult anyone for having bad taste, but that's a bit of a strawman version of a snobby film fan or critic. Bad taste does exist and it is possible for a movie to be objectively bad or objectively good. If you are a film lover, you should probably see all the movies you mentioned and be able to appreciate them, or at least recognize their importance in the context of film history, even if they aren't your cup of tea. If you don't you probably aren't really a Film Lover, you're a Person Who Likes Movies, which is fine too. Also, all the movies you listed are very accessible. They were huge hits and aren't really snooty films at all.

  1. Never using objective correctly. Sometimes they will even admit that they know movies are subjective then still trying to have an “objective” conversation.

  2. Complaining about any long-delayed sequel or remake. The bingo space would say “who asked for this?” even though most movies are not requested by viewers.

Big Trouble in Little China: the main character is actually the side kick.

Any movie with a hacker: they press too many buttons.

Marvel movies: the jokes undercut the seriousness of a live action cartoon.

Movie I like: underrated.

Movie I hate: overrated.

Movie that makes me feel uncomfortable but there's actually nothing wrong with it: problematic.

Sequels/prequels: need to stop.... unless it's a franchise I like.
