'cause it's not just about acting, it's also who looks good on a poster. Cynthia Rothrock looks like Kitty from That '70s Show, not at all like an action star. Michelle Yeoh for example always looked convincingly tough. Same deal with say, Pam Grier if you wanna go back a little further.

You do know that there were other martial arts guys in the '80s and '90s that studios tried to get behind and they bombed for pretty much the same reasons, right? They mighta been great martial artists but they looked like someone's dorky dad.

The ghosts swore an oath and betrayed it by fleeing Gondor or however they identified at the time and refusing to come to Gondors Aid. As Isildurs heir Aragon could hold them to that oath. So they sort of always didn't like Gondor, but didn't realize the ramifications.

Exactly my experience as well. We convicted a thug on beating his wife senseless (in front of his 3 year-old daughter) but even with an ADA who had her case sewn up pretty tightly, we still had one Lee J. Cobb figure on our jury who read his tabloid and said the defendant 'just got outta hand a little.' So it took some persuasion and jury members using things other than evidence to make their argument.

Yeah, I know the legal purists go crazy over what happens in the jury room in this movie (one of my absolute favorites) but the fact is, once the door's closed, anything goes. Guilty/Not Guilt/Hung Jury. That's it. No 'Oh, but we considered things other than the evidence.' Judge will *not* care.

Having read the book it’s not a cover up, it’s blatant, it’s just that nobody cared. The head rights were granted to the Osage, but they were placed into a trust monitored by white people and they had to go through those white people to get the money. There was a main antagonist, yes, but there were also many one off killers. It’s insane that it’s all been lost to history and nobody would know about it if it wasn’t for the book being written.

The film makes it pretty clear that noone can command the ghost army when Legolas shoots an arrow through a ghost. The ghost king revels in the fact that noone can command them except the king of Gondor. He laughs at Aragorn initially but is shocked when his ghost weapon is blocked by what can only be the sword of the King of Gondor right?

That's... the central theme. Overcoming the easy path of just letting things play out rather than fighting and sacrificing for good.

Ernest is such a good character for Leo. And can’t wait to Jesse Plemons portray Tom White. I’m a little worried about DeNiro being in it though. That casting doesn’t really fit at all. Seems like Marty just trying to shoehorn his buddy in and could torpedo the whole thing.

The Big Short is Margin Call made for kids.

The Big Short is still great. It just wants to aim for a larger segment. Margin Call aims for a more narrow segment.
