I mean, we’ve been watching generic superhero movies in theaters for years (the biggest cash grab scheme I know), and only this month we got things like JW4, D&D (a really fun movie btw), Creed 3, Scream. Such an upgrade tbh!

I agree. But don’t come to Reddit with logical opinions. You’ll be disappointed.

Yes! I watched all her movies when I was a kid! So underrated!

I think the D&D movie looks kinda fun, enough that I'm actually tempted to see it, and I'm not a D&D person at all.

Cabin parodies the trope. Most modern slashers have this trope played completely straight.

I've heard theories that modern technology is one of the reasons a good number of big name filmmakers, since the 2000s, have pretty much stopped making films set in modern times.
Tarantino
Paul Thomas Anderson
Martin Scorsese
Wes Anderson
Spielberg
Coen Brothers

They already made a live action version of Uzumaki. It was okay but obviously nowhere as good as the comic. Not by a long shot.

If I had to have someone adapt Itou’s work, it would be 80s Cronenberg. The two were made for one another, shame that the timeline didn’t cooperate.

alright I understand. For me though D&D just looks like it came out of no where.

Based on reviews, D&D is actually a good movie....
Also, movies weren't all that great during covid, so I am not sure I agree.

You are 100% right , very few movies are actually amazing like maybe 1 in 10

I’m pretty sure in most cases actors had to wear masks unless they were on camera.

I never made it through that Netflix show. The first episode was just a dud. And the tunnel was meh. It really felt dragged out and long somehow.

It was a regular family in the Times article, the boat was equipped, not them, with the satphone.
Roy also wasn't that far off shore, regular cell probably would've had service.
Science Fiction films too, where the protagonist isn't believed, he now has a camera where ever he goes.

Newer iPhones can function as satellite phones too. Just thought I'd add that.

Yeah, but Arnie as a military guy, sure he might have a sat phone as standard equipment, but would Roy Scheider have taken one on The Orca? He had no idea what he was after. I think there are a lot of situations where a character wouldn't have a thing regardless of its availability.
