The best? No. Michelle Yeoh far better.
That said, Cynthia Rothrock is up there, and deserves far more recognition.

Reply to Double standards: Men will say skinny women beating up men is unrealistic but they'll accept goofy looking men beating up 10 men all at once and surviving deep falls. by Lili_Danube
People DO accept female action stars. It just depends on the movie. Kate Beckinsale did her Underworld shit just fine. Michel Yeoh did a ton of movies in Hong Kong. Uma did it in Kill Bill. Angie did it in Tomb Raider. It's all about the TONE.
Nobody thinks the Indy films are serious. Nobody thinks the female action star movies are serious either. So if you go and make a dead serious movie where a guy falls out if a plane and survives using a boat or a girl kicks a massive dudes ass, yeah, nobody is gonna buy it.

What's working with Nick Cage like? How wild does he get?

Fangoria generally does good stuff, so I'm cautiously optimistic

I work as a 1st AD in the industry - what position do you work? Looking forward to seeing the film, hope to see you on set one day.

And this goes on and on and back and forth for 90 or so minutes until the movie just sort of ends.

my friends and i are absolutely stoked for renfield! dracula is one of my favorite books, and i make sure to watch every adaptation i can get a hold of, but this one feels special; it certainly helps that renfield is such an interesting character to me. i was recently production assistant on a movie myself (independent local short film, but still exciting) -- what's it like to work in the industry to the level you do? what questions do you wish people would ask about your jobs?

I don't think it was Jon Voight. Rip Torn was apparently cast in the movie but got into a nasty argument with Dennis Hopper that is still hotly debated to this day about which of them pulled a knife on the other one first. But it's been the source of a feud that lasted until their deaths.

I agree; she’s really great, but I think part of the problem was that she was also in some exceptionally bad movies. Truthfully, I only became aware of her by watching many of those crappy movies from Rifftrax.

While I don’t think this season is necessarily good, I thought Season 5 of American Horror Story was pretty interesting. It takes place in a hotel and it’s only like 11 episodes

Reply to Despite being such a popular and iconic historical topic, no one has attempted a pirate movie in the twenty years since Pirates of the Caribbean by Trillamanjaroh
Cutthroat Island was such a massive bomb that studios did not want to chance making another in the genre for 8 years. Then Disney gave us the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
EntertainmentNo2044 t1_jecdfzf wrote
Several reasons. One the first "attempt" was so bad that I doubt Akira Toriyama will approve a live action DBZ movie anytime soon. Second, DBZ is a hard property to adapt. It's a sequel to a decidedly less popular series, and one that includes a lot of backstory and characters from that series. So you're essentially starting in the middle of an extremely long story.
Finally, the biggest reason is simply cost. A live action DBZ movie's CGI would put the budget around Avatar level.

did you enjoy the good asian? i've been thinking about picking it up, as i am interested in noir, especially with historical context & social commentary.

I think it’s budget would have to be massive, and no production company is willing to gamble that considering how anime to live action tends to be.

Is there a scene in it where Dracula smiles and it is very reminiscent of Gwynplaine from The Man Who Laughs? As in it looks like a deliberate recreation of a specific moment?

people don't realize that zion is still part of the matrix. While it's debatable whether or not Neo actually left the simulation, the matrix itself was the system of control used to corral dissenters and deserters until the time came for extermination and Neo never left that part of the matrix. So yes, he only had the illusion of choice and left or right, blue or red, all lead to the same conclusion

She was a Cinemax queen back in the day. Lady Dragon, Sworn to Justice. It's all low budget direct to cable stuff but back in the early 90s that wasn't so bad. Like back when Full Moon Pictures still made decent creature features.
