Only thing recent I've sent Pattinson in was The Batman, and I thought he was a good Batman, but struggled to get behind him as Bruce Wayne. I think that more of a writing/makeup thing than an acting thing though.

Anything you can recommend that particularly impressed you?

The reason they have to use CGI de aging still is that deep fake technology is not high resolution enough yet for movies, even if they look good on youtube.

The new Indiana Jones movie is supposed to use a special kind of deaging that actually is a mix of A.I. deepfake and CGI using a lot of archive footage of Harrison Ford. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. I can see where it would work well on actors who have been in a lot of movies in their lifetime, so Tom Cruise would definitely be able to take advantage.

That being said, Michael Mann typically keeps everything in camera, but who knows maybe he'll be open minded like Martin Scorsese and try some deaging if he decided to do a prequel to Collateral.

There are 3 moderate budget pirate tv shows airing or set to premiere right now.

But movies are another story. Take a look at how these non-Jack Sparrow pirate movies performed and you will see why Hollywood is reluctant to make pirate movies:

2020 - Wendy

2015 - Pan

2013 - Captain Philips

2012 - Ice Age 5 (?)

2012 - Pirates!

2012 - One piece

2012 - A hijacking

2008 - The Pirates who don’t do anything

2003 - Sinbad

2003 - Peter Pan

There are always great actors coming up, so in terms of the craft, yes. As for actors with star power, or charisma, there will be those as well. But the movie/tv landscape is so vast and varied now, I'm not sure any of them will reach the star level of a Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Jack, Julia Roberts, Meryl, Pacino, Hoffman, Bogart, Cagney, Brando, Leonardo, Hanks, MM, The Duke, Bronson Pinchot etc
