Snipes would've killed it in these types of films, assuming he was willing to do them.

Any of the big child actors will probably fit this well, somewhat by default. McCauley Caulkin and Haley Joel Osment both immediately came to my mind. Someone mentioned Natalie Portman in the thread as well.

No need to apologize for a lighthearted comment, you in turn gave me reason to sit and reflect on why I chose the movie. Why it still resonates with me.
Initially I did consider a sarcastic answer at first, but I decided a sincere response was appropriate.
I am appreciative of your responses and of you creating the thread.

Someone else mentioned he did it a a lot but didn't mention other films.
He could've had a great career like Bill Murray.

I'm with you on this. I don't know if you're actually in the minority here, but I think the first is the pinnacle of an overall strong original trilogy. It really changed the game in terms of spy movies at the time for a reason.

First one emulated the brilliant tv series
Second one emulated the first film in part, but added the new director's shaky cam style
Third one emulated the parts of the second one that didn't emulate the first
The fourth discarded everything that made the films good
Legacy isn't a Bourne film but is really good in it's own right

I believe the movies follow a sequence: the first he believes (erronously) that he have a choice. In the second, he finds out he never had one. And in the third, he makes one.
I believe the movie makes a good point about the difference between choice and control. At the end of the movies he have no control. But he makes the choice to save Trinity. Choice, withouth control. "What will really break your mind, is what would have happened if I had'nt said anything".

You leaved me speechless, and sorry if I came too "jokey" before but I think just the viewing of that movie would encapsulate so much nostalgia and cheer memories to a lot of people around that hearing about a viewing nearby in honor of somebody, well would be kinda a great experience. Still thank you for taking your time explaining and dissecting some of the aspects of the connection it has to you.

I was always too busy being gobsmacked at the complexity of the special effect you are looking at. The reflection is constructed and 'wrapped' onto Morpheus' excellent glasses. If it was real and untouched footage, you would see a camera and the crew, not too mention the angles would look a little off due to the shooting angle. Sheer genius. Back on topic though, I'd never read anything into it as Neo wants to wake up and goes for the red pill.

By your logic, the whole choice is an illusion. Because if he is fated to be the one without any real free will than there was actually no choice. Using that logic sort of unravels the whole point imo

I'll be honest, having a lot of people attend to just watch the movie never occurred to me.
I had to boil it down to the one movie that those close to me associate with me the most and one that in some form another has had long reaching impact on me.
If you sit down and breakdown the individual plot elements of the movie, you'll see that it actually encompasses a lot of themes about loss, grief, family, friendship, acceptance, and more.
For a movie about "four walking, talking turtles" It's actually one of the most heartfelt and intelligent "kids" movies of the 90's.
I know, I know, I know, that's actually a line from Secret of the Ooze, which is a more lighthearted movie, but one, I nonetheless love nearly as much.
The problem is, one movie wouldn't be enough, there would have to be an epic montage of my favorite things. A trailer of my life and interests, if you will.

You're right... besides his performances, his latest films haven't been very good... some downright awful, but some of his upcoming projects look like they could be good

Not consciously, no. But he still believes in a bigger lie that is control and choice. Choice by the way, he never had. He was always meant to be the one. As the oracle says: "It seems like you are waiting for something".
In this scene he picks the red pill to wake up, but only later on the movie (after his death) he trully understands the reality of the matrix. Until then he just takes the red pill to have control of his life. So he changes one lie for another, in a sense.

That was over 15 years ago, doubt there’ll be a remake now. Just makes me laugh how eager they were to slap that quote on the poster trying to cash in on the success of Infernal Affairs/The Departed and it never fucking happened. Old Boy remake was soooo bad, unwatchable bad, Charltoy Copley doing that weird whiny voice.
Cheers for the compliment, it’s a combination of my two favourite things,Delroy Lindo & Delboy Trotter. And also Snake Plissken username was taken.

Ehh it really isn't. Casino Royale falls apart after Le chiffre's death which in itself was anticlimactic. Vesper's betrayal was awkwardly done IMO with a really over the top sequence of her drowning and Mr. White was totally inconsequential.

I see what you are saying but disagree completely. I could maybe stretch it to say he takes the red pill to keep hope alive but wouldn’t say he wanted to keep dreaming

I gotta go with Al Pacino
The Panic in Needle Park in 1971 and The Godfather in 1972.
