I’m positive it will end up being something that doesn’t become officially greenlit. I was just so intrigued with how they could possibly do a direct sequel to the story. It’s such a one off movie and it came out in 2004.

This movie stands in a league of its own, can anyone recommend some movies which match the tone or vibe that this movie has?

I would cite a different episode from Hopper's career for the biggest freak out. While shooting Jungle Warriors in a remote jungle region of Mexico, Hopper decided to run off naked, to raise an army and start a revolution. They had to go looking for him.

That story is just piggy backing off the recent Heat 2 casting stories. It's 100% not in development

I agree. The first 2 sequels were OK, but the Bourne Identity is the only one I'd describe as a really good movie

Yeah, I had never really thought of T2 that way but I know what you mean, I think. It’s a feeling that I don’t think any movie or series tried or even could capture after 9/11, when the American zeitgeist shifted so dramatically. Off the top of my head, I think parts of the original Matrix captures the same essence, as do the first few seasons of the Sopranos. 12 Monkeys does too, in my opinion, and possibly Fight Club.

Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, although I would have liked to see more of Hopper and Jack Nicholson working together. Also Dustin Hoffman with Warren Beatty in Ishtar, with Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboys, and with Tom Cruise in rain man.

I thought Looper portrayed a pretty realistic near-future from the perspective of 2012. Same goes for Children of Men for 2006. One small element I always really liked about Children of Men is that old people in that movie have piercings and tattoos.
