He also taunted her about the death of her fiance John Cazale to make her angry

Best: this exchange wasn't scripted:

Worst: Dustin Hoffman slapped Meryl Streep for real/without warning during production of Kramer vs Kramer.

Which means some of those giving him work do even worse things in their private lives and parties. Or they tolerate and keep many scandals under wraps.

Maybe I'm unreasonably cynical, but that whole thing felt very staged to me.
Edit- Curious thing to be getting downvoted for. Everything around Cruise is notoriously stage-managed and controlled with a hermetic seal, but the one thing that happens to leak is a near-perfectly composed "blow up" that casts him in a largely positive light and emphasises how Covid conscious the production is, when it was still getting quite a bit of scrutiny for proceeding at all?
It's a pretty valid eyebrow-raise even if you don't agree.

“White's original allegations included claims that Affleck hired transvestite prostitutes "for his personal gratification" during filming, referred to women as "cows", manhandled her when she rejected his sexual advances and instructed a camera operator to flash his genitals at her on several occasions. Gorka claimed she was subjected to a "near daily barrage of sexual comments, innuendo and unwelcome advances" by crew members, encouraged by Affleck.”

While you’re technically correct that I didn’t know the apparent legal differences between abuse, assault, and harassment, my point stands.

That's kind of the point, the 1st half shows how he's so empty and dead inside, then the 2nd half shows why

I actually love the first one, the script is tight and Marie adds a lot as a character. I’m also not a big fan of Greengrass who directed the sequels

One of the most underrated parts of his performance is how likable and fun he is before the tragedy

it's also really solid as a 'near future' film presently. In it there are: autonomous vehicles, AI, bionic implants, AI implants, targettable weaponized viruses, social controls, CCTV drones, anarchic social outcasts, etc etc. and yet it all feels like each development could conceivably be 20years away individually.

I actually credit the Bourne Identity with kicking some life back into James Bond - Casino Royale, IMO, was the best Bond movie ever, and they stripped it down, got rid of the campy bullshit, which I think was a direct reaction to the Bourne Identity.

Klaus Kinski on all the movies he made with Werner Herzog. And pretty much everywhere else.

You can criticize an actor as a person and still praise their performance.
It would be silly not to think that Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Luc Besson are, or at least were incredibly great filmmakers, all that whilst not excluding the fact that they're rapist and molesters.
They are not mutually exclusive.

I really liked Bourne Legacy...until they made the last 15 minutes a car chase. I'm not sure why this series is so fascinated with car chases that always end in unsurvivable crashes.

this movie's script is a lot smarter and wiser than it seems at first glance

Reply to ‘Evil Dead Rise’ Filmmaker Lee Cronin Tackling Horror Thriller ‘Thaw’ for New Line by indig0sixalpha
I was at SXSW and was at this bar because there’s a burger food truck there called Out of Nowhere and I’ve heard all these awesome things about it. So I went and they weren’t open yet because they had a private event but the sign said they’d open at 6:45.
To get to the food truck, you had to go outside, past the back patio, and the truck was behind the building. Unfortunately, the truck didn’t open at 6:45. I was starving, too. So every few minutes I kept going to check. Someone was there, cooking, but they weren’t serving.
It just so happened that a group of people were on the patio. Meaning every time I went to check on the truck, I walked by them. There was a circle around one guy in particular. He was kind of holding court then listening to people then holding court. Seemed really nice. But was clearly someone people wanted to engage with.
While I was ordering a drink, a couple people from that party got in line behind me. I asked them who the guy was.
“The director of the new Evil Dead movie.”
Got back to my table. Googled that. Saw Lee Cronin’s picture. Sure enough, it was Lee Cronin.
They were there for another hour. And that entire, the food truck never opened. But my hungry ass kept getting up to check. Obviously, some people in Lee’s party had to notice me. Maybe someone put it together? But I bet a number of them thought I recognized Lee and wanted to talk to him or something and kept coming out to try and weasel my way into the group. That thought amused me because all I wanted was that stupid hamburger. But I had to look sketchy as hell.
Unfortunately, they never opened. But I went back the next day. Had to wait again. Then they finally opened. Burger was fucking incredible. Top 3 of my life. Number 1 is Au Cheval in Chicago. Number 2 is probably like eating Dairy Queen hamburgers with my dad when I was a kid. And 3 is Out of Nowhere.

I loved the Bourne Identity, but the last movie (Jason Bourne) was embarrassingly bad.

To be honest, it's going to be hard to find something modern that compares to Terminator 2. I can't think of anything that comes close, sorry I know that's not helpful

Nobody claimed sexual abuse from Casey Affleck. Don’t normalize making shit up.
Harassment is a far cry from sexual abuse. Is the same difference between calling a person a name and punching them.
Also, other cast and crew members defend him. So, the jury is out, and likely will always be.

Props for seeing it four times. I love the movie but immediately decided after my first viewing: never again.
