Characters like that creep me out. Possibly bc I see how those characters could be me if I didn't have a conscience or if I had just had a significantly different upbringing. They are faced with many choices and paths that I've encountered as well. Thankfully I've chosen much better, but I look at those characters and see a version of myself that could have been. His performance of Robert Ford chills me to my core.

It was so good that everyone just magically forgot those sexual assault allegations.

I really didn't like the most recent one (the one that's just called Jason Bourne) and I never saw the Jeremy Renner one, but the original trilogy is one of the best, most consistent movie trilogies ever.

Arrival may fit your criteria. It's set in present day which makes it feel more relevant/timely, and with its themes of the importance of communication and cooperation and the dangers of rushes to violence when faced with a lack of information, I'd say a lot of that is very relevant to today, and especially the year it came out.
It's also hard to pin down the modern aesthtic in the same way we can retroactively identify T2 as being perfectly emblematic of the late 80s/early 90s action blockbuster vibe, but Arrival's clean eerie presentation feels consistent with some of the general tones of his contemporary directors like Fincher and Nolan.

Check out the movie upgrade, really well done sci fi action flick. Not as hyper budget as T2 but the story is great and the cinematography during the fights is fantastic!

I'd agree except for the last one, the last one was just bad. It's like they made everyone dumb and no ones actions make sense. Same goes for the tech aspect.

The delivery of a single word, "PLEASE!" was enough to emotionally scar me. If you've seen the film, you know what I'm talking about.

Back to the Future Two can be a pretty wild trip when you look how many "futuristic" things are pretty similar. Sure, some of the hairstyles and clothes are a bit exaggerated, but the interpretation of video walls, internet, electric cars, etc are neat.

I love how every movie has that one moment of like OH SHIT. ‘What if we cant find her?’ ‘That should be easy, she’s standing right next to you’ then the music goes off lol

Well, the aliens arrived in the 80s and the events shown take place in the 2010. The arrival might have altered the timeline a bit, some technology is a bit more advanced but just bits and pieces, and the movie is a nice „what if“ story that felt so real as it stays so close to present time.
