I heard it's not actually a bad line, just that a subplot where Toad provides toad facts throughout the film got cut and so the joke designed to benefit from it falls flat.

My highest watched year so far (1987) has 75 films. I can't imagine 150 lol.

Toy Story 2 was originally direct to vhs and was basically entirely reworked a month before release. All signs pointed to terrible movie. However, we got an excellent one

That annoyed me. They tried to package the whole story as "lonely man does all this but still didn't get the girl" because that's something recognisable to Hollywood but it has no truth to it. The woman in the film doesn't even exist.

Yeah I just rewatched it a couple weeks ago. It truly is a well made film. Just front to back precision into craft. It’s a movie that could be a stage play and function fine, but is just constant expensive and overengineered camerawork. They put so much effort into the movie and all of it came together like a masterclass in filmmaking. You could study any individual aspect in it, from performances, to color grading, music, cgi, writing, anything about it, and you can gain insight from it to be a better filmmaker yourself if you tried. Fincher is fantastic at being like that, though. He just rules.

Like I said in another comment, I didn’t even know there was an original so I don’t know how it stacks up. But other than that, I think it’s worth watching. Even without seeing the original I can tell you that it’s 100x more absurdly ridiculous than the original haha.

Pretty sure the movie, for most its production, was going to be about the chase for Bin Laden. But then they got him. So they changed the ending.

Salt comes to mind. Movie was completely planned for Tom Cruise but he bailed at the last second. Angelina Jolie just stepped in and they barely changed a thing, and it worked. It's a really solid action/spy drama.
Also knowing the mess that was going on, it's a miracle Justice League wasn't even worse.

Frozen was very rushed and changed in extraordinary ways during production from "shooting script" to what's on the screen. One reason Jennifer Lee was put in charge of animation over there: she can rebuild the airplane from its exploded chunks as it falls out of the sky.

Audrey Hepburn had her first starring role in Roman Holiday and then following it up with Sabrina.
Kate Winslet with Heavenly Creatures and then was nominated for an Oscar for Sense and Sensibility.
Glenn Close with World According to Garp and then The Big Chill.
Barbara Streisand with Funny Girl and Hello, Dolly!

All the early Bond films from Dr No to Thunderball were released roughly one year apart from one another. And they only got more and more successful with each one. And even today they remain some of the best and most iconic installments in the entire franchise.

Nice project. Reminds of what another Letterboxd user, PUNQ, used to do when he'd watch everything from a given year.
I've seen a little less than half of what you've listed and liked All the Right Moves and Strange Brew the best.

I can’t disagree, that movie is a lesson in tension and pacing.
I think it, A Bittersweet Life, Oldboy and I Saw the Devil rotate for me in terms of favourites.

Rashida Jones' character at the end puts it best, something along the lines of like "when I hear emotional testimony I assume 50% of it is bullshit". I think that applies to the film well
