In most scenarios, sure. But it in a comedy like Buffy, having a comedic cameo role by a well-known actor - in this case, a famous children's TV host - adds a lot more humor. Similarly, Tom Cruise's role in Tropic Thunder or Liam Neeson's cameo in Life's Too Short we're integral to the jokes.

This pretty much was a lifetime achievement award, though you probably could have said the same thing if it went to Angel Bassett. I like JLC and I think it's cool that she has an Oscar, but her performance was definitely the least interesting of the bunch

Yeah, such a great character actor but that always felt weird but it was in line with the condescending nature of many people who think it's so groundbreaking and moving to see a racist guy start to warm up to PoCs. 'What a great achievement! He showed that PoC some kindness, he's a hero!'

Brilliant movie! This was also super early in her career, 1943 and her fourth movie after the others listed.

Then Casanova Brown (her first less-acclaimed film), then Best Picture-winner and #1 highest-grossing film of the decade The Best Years of Our Lives.

I've only seen Shadow and Best Years, but both are masterpieces.
