I love the character Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall), especially in the first one. I'm guessing he's intentionally made less likeable in Part 2, along with Michael getting the same treatment.

"Oh, that was an accident, Kay. (slightly laughing at the charred car frame) But nobody was hurt."

I stand by this to this day; The Godfather is the absolute greatest piece of American cinema in history. It isn't debatable; there is no other film as incredible, influential, or widely well received as The Godfather is. The behind the scenes trouble at Paramount while it was being made is also legendary. This film was destined to fail, and against all odds it succeeded. Truly lightning in a bottle; 2 is also great, but it pales in comparison to the original. While some would argue that it has a richer narrative, I would argue that making the movie much more political for 2 alienated some of the audience that truly loved 1, and detracted a bit of the sheen.

Didn't actually think that it "sucked" initially, but the first 30-45 mins of 'Memories of Murder' are so silly (and that's on purpose). I was like "wth, this is all so ridiculous lmao". But what follows after that is sheer cinematic brilliance. It's one of my Top 5 favourite films of all time. This is the only movie that comes to mind wrt your post right now. 'Parasite' is dirt compared to 'Memories of Murder' (both are directed by Bong Joon-ho)

Barbarian. The first half of the movie it was on track to be my favorite horror movie of the year. Then the second half happened and it became my least favorite horror of the year. Such an original premise that was ruined by the supernatural horror elements that were thrown in during the 2nd half. It didn’t shock or surprise me, it took me completely out of the movie, and they never got me back.

Was my favorite movie as a kid . I remember seeing it the theatre . While it gets panned as a glorified Nintendo advertisement I really think it has a lot more going for it . Jimmy is clearly suffering from very serious PTSD and finding the outlet of video games let’s him express himself and relate to his brother and others. As a kid I loved the video game scenes but as I got older I started to relate to Christian Slater and the guilt he felt for what happened and then Beau Bridges and dealing with the divorce . The cast does a great job as well . Did anyone else take anything else from the movie ?
