I wonder if access to healthcare was a factor? I've lived with major medical issues my whole life so I don't expect to live to the average. Now in my mid 40s. I live in Essex county.

Found one without a pay wall. You failed to mention that police had to respond to his house two days ago for a domestic incident. He’s also on paid leave. So he was found incapable of fulfilling his duties while dealing with personal issues and simply won’t be having his contract for employment as chief renewed. That’s accountability and responsibility. And he’s being paid.

I did some research before accepting the job but didn’t realize the exemption for the states PFML program. I knew short term disability wouldn’t be an option and that FMLA wouldn’t apply. When I accepted the job I was told “we’re a very flexible family-friendly organization and we will work with you”. I guess I accepted that at face value- lesson learned.
I feel guilty applying for new jobs at this stage, knowing I’ll be asking for leave in 8 weeks.

No, they are not. I mentioned it because it was one of the towns that had not been mentioned by others, and both are a reasonable commute to Fall River.

greatly diminished returns! I have seen our schools tank between my oldest’s time here and my youngest’s. And for what? We are still not properly funding and asking for more overrides🤷🏻♀️

they word it all over the state that mcas is required by law for grades 3-8 but the truth is the schools are required by law to OFFER it. Parents may refuse with no penalty for their student:

Question in case you know because the article doesn’t say: Was he (breaking the law) committing adultery at the workplace or during work hours (On the Public’s dime)?
That would make the most sense for why he was relieved from duty.

Should we fire cops and other first responders like firefighters for having a bad diet and eating to much junk food? If a first responder had a heart attack on route to an emergency that could endanger public safety right?

Ah, so your town is trying to operate like a publicly traded company and cut costs and force the teachers to do more with less and produce the same results. Except instead of appeasing stockholders, they’re causing harm to kids of all learning levels diminished returns.

Well apparently that’s why Somerville is trying to pass a polyamorous anti-discrimination bill, however if the idea is that conducting immoral behavior in your personal life when morality is basically your job there is no line. Things should never be do as I say but not as I do.

You would have to ask our moron superintendent. The goal 2 years ago was to not have to pay as many teachers. But the experiment has failed - we are not providing adequate aides to make the set-up work nor are we providing the amount of team planning time we were told would be made available (for teachers to teach “across a curriculum” they need to meet on paid, scheduled time weekly). Teachers are basically handling social-emotional issues and not having enough time to teach. The staff admit they are getting though less than 2/3 the material than before this experiment.

My daughter has accommodations for epilepsy because after she has a seizure, she has severe brain fog for a day or two. Usually I just keep her home the day after, but if I didn't, I'm certain that extended test time the day after a seizure would make no difference. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great accommodation for many students, but it won't be useful for every student.
