It is only mandatory for grade 10. I am also a college professor and while I do appreciate the snapshot of “learning” MCAS can give our district, the time spent prepping for the test pretty much renders that data useless. Combine with how far behind my kids are this year due to our district’s experiment cutting SPED and forcing teaching teams to manage classrooms with remedial, honors level and standard level students combined and we really should not be wasting a minute on these. My 8th grader is excused this year (you can find a standard exemption letter online).

It's not easy for everyone. I'm lucky I have kids that are good test takers, but my kids have friends with severe text anxiety or learning disabilities, and it's difficult for them. The fact that it assesses the school makes it even worse for me because we are wasting our kids' time for the sake of evaluating admin and teachers?

Well personally I am surprised that is the reason he was let go, but honestly if you think about it as police chief he is meant to uphold the law. If he has trouble upholding the values of his marriage then perhaps he will be looking for gray areas in other places as well. However, this negates my argument that polyamorous people wouldn’t necessarily be discriminated against bc loads of men are having affairs and not getting fired or evicted for it.

Why is such small towns news is even a discussion and week old news is being posted now? Good question, the answer to the second question is that just this morning the reason why has been discovered and this also answers the first question as well.

This was over a off duty extra marital affair on the Chief's personal time.

The question is that should amoral or imoral behavior that happens on personal time and does not effect a job be reason for dismissal.

Bill Clinton committed adultry and kept his job,if you recall the impeachment trial was for lying about the affair to congresss (perjury) not for the Lewinski incident in and of itself.

Was Chief Wood treated fairly by Mayor Macksey???

I work in Fall River Industrial Park and I commute from Weymouth. My commute is around 40-45 minutes. Morning commute so I’m going against rush hour, it’s sooo nice. All my co workers that live around like Assonet and stuff, yeah it’s nice and like 10 minutes away, but they don’t have anything to do or anywhere to hangout.

On the other hand, I’m extremely close to Boston. When I got the job, I told my wife I wanted to be looking for something along 24, first week I told her, never mind, I love my commute. 2 months into the job, still feel the same. Better close to Boston than close to work.
