Milwaukee is underrated. People bad-mouth MKE and Chicago a lot, but I’ve spent plenty of time in both (even the more “unsavory” areas) and the good qualities outweigh the bad. Be smart and open-minded and there are a lot of cool places to explore. The people in both cities are friendly too imo, compared to those out East, and less crunchy than those out West. Milwaukee has more of a crusty edge than Madison. It’s gritty and real. Chicago is like that too, just much larger.
