There is no need to go to Switzerland to find people who are capable of operating a commuter rail system.

Our major impediment is that we typically recycle political hacks who have no idea what they are doing and are largely incompetent. That is why we see people like Pete Buttigieg as transportation secretary - he's totally inexperienced and incompetent at Transportation. So was his predecessor Elaine Chao.

Both parties do this - its not a partisan issue: they put incompetent people in important jobs and then wonder why government services are a complete failure.

If you use the M-Ticket app, the Zone 1 ticket might still be active for the duration of the transfer. If you bought paper tickets, you probably have to do it your way.

I assumed so, but had to ask since the app lists the starting and end station right on top.

I bought both because QC > SS is Zone 1 but SS > Ruggles is Zone 1A, which is cheaper. Was that no necessary?

Commuter Rail tickets are just by zone, not direction. A ticket from Zone 1 to South Station is also a ticket from South Station to Zone 1.

Tickets also aren't restricted to a particular line. If you want to use your tickets for a trip out of North Station, you can do that, too.

Also, why did you buy both 1 and 1A tickets?

Yes, what matters is the zone of the m Ticket, not the direction. I think the app to purchase tickets is set up like that (select start and end stop) to make it easier for people, but when you activate the ticket it only shows the zone. You’ll be fine!
