Even on the weekdays, I would recommend getting there right when it opens at 11A, before the line starts forming. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting in line 20-30 minutes, just to order.

It is as “like Europe” as any place in the US and there are many ridiculously cheesy touristy cities in Europe these days. The North End is great, you just have to know which spots to hit up.

Tell him to quit then. He can just add easily fire your condo association as a customer. If he doesn't want to do work then his option is to quit rather than to gouge the rate.

its live or die out there on the roads. Nothing more Boston than hitting a random barrel rolling around in the lanes and getting yelled by passerby's for having your hazards on when trying to check to see if your car is still drive-able...

Hit up Galleria Umberto on a weekday (to avoid crowds) for some cheap Sicilian pizza, calzones, or arancini. Buon appetito!

Reminds me of 243 Purchase St in Boston. Absolutely prime real estate. My understanding is the owners have an over-inflated view of what it's worth, and are just sitting on it waiting to for a sucker to buy it.

It is mediocre and a tourist trap. I laugh when people try to tell me it's a foodie destination or that it's "like Europe". Just no.

Not the best area, but use common sense and stay alert and you would probably be fine.

It's actually one of the few areas of Boston that I would say is a bit sketchy at 2am.

It's not rough. At night it has some sketchballs and when the clubs get out there's more raucous stuff but I wouldn't worry about walking through there at that hour. Just be smart aware.
During covid it was the sketchiest I ever remember it being though.

I can’t speak much on the living situation other than I would look on Facebook. The one time I had lived with random roommates that’s where I found it. I won’t lie, it’ll likely be hard to find a low wage job and afford a place for both of you while having spending money to enjoy the city. You’ll likely have to look a bit outside (try Watertown, Everett, Brighton).
As for work. If you have any experience working with kids I strongly suggest looking for a town/city job working at a camp. You’ll meet a lot of people, you’ll be outside, get exercise, and really get acclimated to a natural sense of community. I ran a camp 6-7 years ago and pay was around 15-16 a hour for high schoolers without experience. I imagine it’s even higher now and given you’re 19 it opens you up for a higher position.

I am willing to put in my fair share, but 1 unit owner is out of state (doesn't seem like he is going to help). The other unit owner has been quiet as well. Maybe the new owner will be willing to chip in. I can set up autopay for water/electricity and so on, but I don't want everything to fall solely on me.

It's walkable to downtown and the waterfront with a huge concentration of restaurants and other shops. If you don't care for it no one is forcing you to go there, but it's silly to act as if it's only for tourists.
