> $60 plate fee. If that's all we're looking at, it makes sense to cut bait and issue a stern warning at this point.

They'd also be on the hook for excise tax which is $25 per $1000 of value (based on a percentage of MSRP based on how old the car is)

I started to cancel my Globe subscription (I was on the $1 trial) last year online and when I went to hit submit, it offered me a discount instead. I declined that, and it offered me a bigger discount. Declined that one too, and was offered a year for something stupidly cheap like $10, so I still have a subscription. So I guess their plan worked, but I've now given them $11 for 18 months of access so I'm OK with that.

There was an article posted here the other day about alcohol licenses, and it mentioned that 4 have been approved for being in Nubian Square.

If they get a spate of new restaurants, I'll definitely go check out the area. There some cool architecture there, and I'd love to have a new place to visit in the city.

Good advice. Would also advise that you can’t take what one staffer said in person or on the phone and expect the next one to be aware of it/agree. Need to treat every interaction as if it’s your first about the issue.

College students are excluded from this requirement

The RMV has a specific clause around being in Massachusetts for 30 days.

Nonresidents Registering in Massachusetts

Even a nonresident (anyone whose legal residence is outside the Commonwealth) may be required to register and/or insure a motor vehicle or trailer in Massachusetts in certain situations. Following are some examples:

• Nonresidents whose primary residences are in other states may not operate motor vehicles ... in Massachusetts for more than 30 total days in one year unless they have liability insurance

Interstate travel is typically considered to fall under the Privileges and Immunities Clause. Massachusetts is effectively saying that after 30 days in Massachusetts, someone loses the right to move to Virginia; that’s plainly unconstitutional.

I quit the globe years back by telling the guy I was moving out of the country. He then asked if I might ask the people moving into my apartment if they are interested in subscribing in my place. Bruh...

That is bad advice. $10/day is really expensive, especially for 3 weeks of travel. Those plans work on the assumption you don’t know better.

You can do $10/week in many cases.

You should never have to buy a SIM at the airport, or anywhere really. Instead, download an e-SIM, tons of different apps for it. Then just switch in your settings. Pretty much every phone made since 2018 is compatible with it. And most folks have phones that are less than 5 years old.
