It also depends on how close he is to the station for work, but he can always take the I-bus which runs as a shuttle between the two stations.

I did this for 3 years between 2018 and 2021, it was only bad when there was constant construction on the 287/95 interchange. I found if I left early (before 8am, and before 5 pm) the commute was only 20-25 minutes. After that it could be anywhere for 30 minutes to an hour.
A lot of times the worst part is the commute is fighting train station traffic to just get onto 95 from harbor point.
I also found it was worse in the summer time on Thursdays and Fridays so tried to get out of the office earlier on those days.

I found my therapist on Headway, she’s amazing and sessions with her were super productive

I'm downtown and I commute to White Plains. It usually takes 30 minutes to get to the office. Getting home is a little worse if you leave around on 5, it can take 45mins - 1 hour.

Did this for two years, I’d say 35 minutes average. The main traffic really just comes from getting through Greenwich and until the 287 exit. All things considered it’s not terrible, now I work in north Stamford and getting there from harbor point can still take 20 minutes.

I commute from Stamford to Scarsdale. I take 95 to 287, getting off in White Plains to head south into Scarsdale. It's usually about 45 minutes for me. On my late days (don't go in until the afternoon) or my Saturday morning shifts it barely takes a half hour. Coming home at 5pm is usually 45 minutes to an hour.

Depends on where in white plains and the actual time of the commute. I do it daily it’s usually 28 door to door in the morning and 33 at night. For me google shows it as a 26 minute drive with no traffic.

Probably looking at a good 45 minutes, sometimes an hour, assuming its a 9-5 type job.
How old is your son? May be good to let them decide for themselves either way, good way to let them learn their tolerance for commuting for this and future jobs.

They are realtors and they are legit! I live in one of their cheap apartments and I it’s the real deal. Patrick is the guy who runs Urban Connections and he is very nice indeed.

Are they realtors or a management company? I was seeing their name on so many places a few quite cheap (by cheap I mean like 16-1700 lol) it gave me a weird vibe. You had good luck with them though??

Prices of everything have increased since your last move. Plus most of the cost of moving is the labor of moving things into/out of the truck. The distance between locations is negligible. We’re talking about like maaaaybe a 30 minute difference.

Have you tried Psychologytoday.com?

While I emphasize with providers not wanting to deal with insurance companies, it alienates whole groups of people like us. I made a post and calculated I had to essentially shell out $1000/mo at least to get the same amount of care I get now. I am not struggling but that’s money I could put elsewhere.
As a person with ADHD, I am not eligible to receive stimulant medication. They do not prescribe it and telepsychiatry is in hot water due to over-diagnosis and prescribing for ADHD. It’s hard out here.
I forgot to ask if you tried calling your insurance for help (they can send a list) or going on Psychology Today to search for providers?

Ugh, I empathize with your struggle! The whole system screwed up...They have some online platforms now that do psychiatry/prescriptions. I myself am skeptical but have a friend who found a provider he sees virtually via talkiatry and it's covered in-network I believe.

I don’t have recommendations, sadly. It took us (husband and me) six months to find a therapist and they are not in the area. You may have some luck in Darien or Norwalk but they didn’t give me good vibes. We wanted an in-person therapist but no one who has the expertise we needed took insurance. We also do not have psychiatrists which makes managing our ADHD challenging.
Many mental health professionals out here are self-pay and only provide super bills. However, my work does not provide health insurance that has out-of-network coverage. Check with Aetna to see if they do.
My therapist is in Farmington (70 miles away). She’s great but I miss the in-person third place that comes with therapy. Sucks to do it in my office but it is what it is. I hope that the telehealth coverage that comes with the public health emergency.
I hope the comments here prove to be more helpful.

I'm also wary of going to anyone younger than me, lol! So that eliminates a good chunk of my options!

I did this commute for 3 years. It’s best to live somewhere between 95 and the Merritt so you have a choice. Not bad at all though - if you commute during off hours it should be around 25 mins. On a normal rush hour 35-45 and once every few months all hell breaks loose and it’ll take an hour
