While I don't really disagree with you it does play into the whole arguement of "you should be ok with the pay freeze because you're here for the kids and we respect you."
People don't go into education to make bank but a lot of people don't go into it or leave it because pay is inadequate.

Also, from the Tribune Democrat, October 29, 2021:
"DeBartola wants to see a decrease in the amount of federally funded Section 8 housing operated through the JHA, which recently held an event designed to provide landlords with information and bring them into the program. He believes the voucher system plays a role in creating a transient population within Johnstown."
This isn't about "structural deficiencies". They have depopulated an ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD because of a small section of folks who believe "those people don't belong here".

Honestly, even an 80,000 salary (at least for me) can't compensate for the toxic work environment in a lot of school districts.

Pay increase. I’d say pay incentives but then you’d have teachers passing them along like what happened to me. That’d be bad.

Everyone doesn’t consider more unpaid time off for lower pay an upside, especially when teachers commonly spend much of that time training or preparing for the next year/ session, and/or have to get creative about a side hustle to make enough money. That’s besides the already cited issues by other commenters about teachers commonly having to use their own money for supplies, and working long hours for various tasks beyond the school day (lesson planning, grading, etc).

Benefits and protection in most of PA are ok as long as you're not in a charter or some private schools

I agree with some of what you said but what are the unnecessary college classes/requirements and the toxic parts of unions?
The need to build up a resume by substitute teaching was from before the shortage when there was too much competition for limited openings.

Nurses typically receive overtime for extra work. Teachers do not.

Former safety inspection mechanic certified. Any currently registered and insured vehicle qualified for safety inspection and sticker application, regardless of what state it was registered in. There was far more attention paid to insurance, ie meeting pa standards. I assume the same is true for emissions. Make sure you get emissions inspection in county of residence.

>Yes, as long as it's not expired...
Thanks so much. Just one more question just to confirm, you mean that an AZ temp registration will work in PA? I got the car from Carvana and they are headquartered in AZ, so I think it's a AZ registration. I am not sure how to tell for sure. Also, how do you know this? Do you work in a shop?

I have family in the area and drive on 11&15 whenever I'm out there. It isn't congested in any sense of the meaning unless you're a country bumpkin who doesn't understand what real traffic looks like.

Ten new buses would cost about $7 million and move more people in any given year than your billion dollar highway from nowhere, to nowhere.
There are 80-100K people living in the entire area this highway would service. There are more people than that living within a twelve mile radius of me.
$1b so a few bumpkins can get home a couple minutes earlier from work is an insane amount of waste.

Why would teachers want more schools where they make less, have less rights, less protections, and often less support?
