Left when I was a kid. The 2.5 hour drive feels like traversing the continental divide and at least a decade.

20+ years in Raleigh from Indiana County.
Pittsburgh Dad like someone mentions. Trips to Kennywood when I come home. Gallikers iced tea and smiley cookies.
Love to visit, but it's not home for me. Got a family here now.
I do enjoy schoolin' folks down here on what are gumbands, redding up, school being off the Monday after Thanksgiving for first day of deer hunting (does that still happen?), gobs, and others.
But, I did single handedly get Sheetz to come down here almost 20 years ago, so that's good.

I don't think Pensions are written the way you think they are.
Those that are a based on the idea of 'double dipping' where the money is a last resort. If you happen to get married, than the last resort shouldn't be necessary any more.

Countryside Cottages, in Bartonsville, Pa. It’s in the pocono region, but it’s exactly what you’re looking for. It’s cabins of various sizes. There’s also a pool and nice space to hold a wedding. The maintenance is on site, so they can assist with anything you need 24 hours. Here’s the website:

So did Russia meddle? Or Trump colluded with them?
Big difference there.

We go to Knoebels every summer. I love driving through the random small towns along the way. I'd rather dodge the turnpike and just meander.

You have that completely backwards. A Roth IRA has already had federal taxes withheld and withdrawals are not taxed. 401(k)s contributions and gains are not taxed by the Feds until withdrawal.
And no one is “giving” anyone “more” by abolishing inheritance tax.

So a widow trying to scrape by on a pension they’d lose if they remarry is gaming the system? I guess widows should retreat into perpetual mourning and never find another relationship to satisfy your “sympathy” requirements. Good grief. Literally.

I've got cousins around Pittsburgh.
They've got spigots ("spickets") inside their house, where my house has faucets. Our spigots are just for hoses outside.
I'm still always surprised when a spigot is new and shiny. I picture something old fashioned when I hear "bathroom spigot."

401(k) are exempt from Income Taxes.
Roth is not.
And if a person benefits financial from not being married, I don't see why it should be up to us to give them more.

I left WPA for WNC 16 years ago. When I would get home sick I would watch YT videos of Pittsburgh Dad.

Oh, boy.
I never said “unmarried for tax reasons,” I pointed out that many widows/widowers will lose all of their pension and social security benefits if they remarry. That’s not about taxes, it’s about survival.
The Fed absolutely does tax 401(k) benefits.
Found families are taxed at 15% by PA. Lineal descendants are taxed at 4.5%, siblings at 12%. So yes, they are absolutely treated differently.

My family has spigots, too. Some of them also have Pittsburgh toilets, aka commode.
